If you like pets...

I want a squirrel! How do you acquire their friendship?
He was a rescue operation that my wife turned into a pet, more or less. We found him as a little baby on the lawn, don't know if mama booted him outta the tree or if he fell, and he was about to become a meal for the neighbor's cat, but we scooped him up and fed him and took care of him with the idea that we'd release him at some point. But because he's lived with us, he's kinda retarded about squirrel life and he would just go get eaten/run over right away should we let him loose. He's even friends with our dogs, I don't think most dogs would think twice about chomping him down....climbs up on your shoulder and hangs out...he's a fun little guy, but had I known then what I know now....I may have left him out on the lawn to take his chances. But he's fun regardless.

We have birds (exotics- -and chickens and turkeys and ducks and a goose) cats dogs (5lb Chihuahua to a 110 lb Anatolian Shepherd) pigs (200-300lbs respectively) bunny rabbits all cohabitating together (have had Sugar Gliders--Snakes--Squirrels -- well Howard still lives in the tree) -- we had a female squirrel in the tree outside and slowly introduced her and Howard ...after the second day in the tree-- he was done with us -- but we still see him and he comes down and "chats" with us--

IF you introduce them -- and DIRECT the dogs -- and cats -- that "THIS IS FAMILY NO FOOD"--- they get it---
Now ACCIDENTS Happen--- Odin might SIT on a cat --- or other dog -- or step on them ACCIDENTALLY -- but rarely do we have ANY issues
Our cats KNOW--- the baby chickens -- OFF LIMITS-- rats or mice ---GET EM--
Squirrels off limits---
you just have to TELL them ---

I bet a TV network could make a popular reality show out of your home digs... :giggle:

This is Cole and Thor. Cole is the black dog that was supposed to be a Rottweiler/Shepard mix, but looks like a black lab jumped over the fence. She is 15 years old. The brown one is Thor. He is a boxer/pit bull mix and is 13 years old and blind. He is my 60 lb lap dog. Cole thinks she is Thor's mother and is constantly cleaning his eyes try to help him to see.

Thor was able to see at birth and cateracts starting taking his vision away a few years ago. He bumps into everything, but has most of the territory memorized so he can navigate his way around. I bought him a halo to wear outside so that he has some protection to keep from slamming his nose into stuff.
