I can't honestly say; LRT has been using this guitar for a couple months. I do know it had a string change recently, but I believe he changed them one at a time, and he said he didn't notice any looseness at the time. Is finish cracking something to be alarmed about? Of all the guitars I own, I have only seen this once, and it was a new guitar so I sent it right back for a replacement. If you take the strings off, does the nut feel like it’s coming loose, or does it still seem like it’s solidly in place?
This could just be some finish cracking.
Me too, believe me!humidity always effects my nutz
not really-- (at least to me) but then I have gutiars with 1/4 inch DIVITS hunked out of them -- and worse-- so what do I know--I can't honestly say; LRT has been using this guitar for a couple months. This guitar hasn't left the jam room in several months....I would think that drastic and immediate changes in temp/humidity would do something like this....but I don't think it's seen anything too crazy for some time...is it common to see finish fractures around nuts like this?Temperature and/or humidity changes will effect the nut material differently than the surrounding wood. The overlapping finish looks to have given up at the join.
I’ll echo @JohnnyGoo ...a drop of glue at the face of the nut that butts up to the end of the fretboard, if it’s necessary at all.
