NBD!

Regarding the Selmer amp: The JOHAN tested a Selmer Treble N Bass amp with a guitar a few months ago. The one in the video is essentially the same as the one I'm buying, it is just a later model with a different look. The innards of the amp are the same. Sounds pretty good to me! Rumor has it that Paul Kossoff used a Selmer T n B when recording "All Right Now". I don't know if there is any truth to that rumor, but I think he used to work in the Selmer shop in London, so who knows? I like to think the rumour is true anyway!

The individual notes have that stately singing quality I love.

Just put a set of these bad boys on the bass. Oh, man! Sweet thump and woof! I love me some flatwounds. Not everybody’s cup of tea, but for my tastes they are great.

Love flatwounds on a bass as well as guitar! :dood:

Just had one of my guitars setup with D'Addario from using the Thomastik ones.
Thomastik are my favorite though for guitar.

I tune down all strings 1 1/2 steps.. C# standard tuning.

Don't have them on a bass yet..:(
Love me some La Bella flatwounds for my bass!

Flatwounds are not for the faint of heart, finger wise on guitar that is.

The amp arrived yesterday, one day earlier than expected. However, the delivery guy (DHL) was running late, so I had in fact gone to bed when he came around (early brew today!). But my wife was still up to open the door. Needless to say, the first thing I did when I got up today was to unwrap it. Looks like it has survived the journey from Windsor, England very nicely. It shows some slight wear, but is looking very good. It is a bit bigger than I expected from the pics I have seen, but that doesn't matter; it is quite lightweight. The seller had installed a cable that made it possible for me to connect a European-style mains plug (the English plugs are, naturally, different from the rest of Europe's!), and even included an extension cable with the right plug. Now I just need a bloody cabinet to fire it up and check if it is actually working...

It looks great!

(As do the SGs - is there 4 of them, do you really need all 4??? :D )

The seller sounds like a nice fella.
Need? What do you mean, need? Of course I need them all! They are SGs, for f's sake! I need ALL the SGs. Please send me yours.

Seriously, I guess I could say I only "need" two, one for standard tuning, and one for opne E, but where's the fun in that? There is, of course, the EB-0 bass hanging on the wall outside the pic as well, and an Epiphone SG at work... I'll probably be selling the Epiphone, though.

What's that echo in/out?

&, I noticed you have the opposite problem to me - hardly any nitro on a couple of your SGs!
Haven’t really thoight about the echo thing. I guess it is an effects loop of sorts, meant for plugging into a separate echo/reverb unit. I know some of the Treble N Bass heads came with a built in reverb tank, but not this one. I habe to read up on it. Maybe I can plug my Catalinbread Talisman plate reverb into the loop?

Interesting. & it's a really nice plate reverb.

Fire it up!!
Use the speaker in one of your combo amps, make a cable if need be.
There may be wattage and/ or impedance mismatch issues, but at least you can verify operation and twiddle all the knobs.

When I use a combo speaker with a short lead on another amp, I use a female to female coupler and a speaker cable.

Now, that is the best idea I have heard all day! Thanks! The cable on my GA-20 is too short, and the cable on the GA-5 is soldered to the amp. I need to drop by the music store in the next few days anyway.
