Peavy

If I was to get a custom guitar done it would probably be a neck-through Vandenberg copy in a natural finish, with the same reverse headstock, same neck profile as my C-1, with Gotoh hardware (including a GE1996T), ebony fretboard, Bare Knuckle pickups, and a natural wood finish, maybe even swamp ash body wings

but, but .......copies are WRONG and illegal and verboten ......(lol)

Another Peavy fan here.
Wouldn't have looked twice at them if not for our inhouse Peavy shill, Adrian.
He worked on me for a couple of years.
Lunchtime show & tells and chance to junk rub on em' had little effect.
But gradually he broke me down. Little by little.
Subliminal pictures of Peaveys started creeping into my computer due to cookies on links that were sent to me.
Was it a conspiracy? Was I being brainwashed?
Finally he got the best of me & overcame my ignorance.
The gateway drug was a little Strat shaped single pickup thing with a single pickup and 24.75" scale called the Patriot.

Didn't stay single pickup for long.

So, while he had me on the line, he then set the hook with a Peavey Preator AX.
A lovely little HSS Stratish clone in a funky light blue that had yellowed to a nice surf green.

I was starting to see the light.

So while the hook was set, he knew the time was right to introduce me to the quirky Peavey Mantis.
a funky little single pickup monster straight out of the 80's.

It was cute but lacking in refinement. But that's the one it took to reel me in...

So I hacked it to my liking with a pair of covered buckers, homemade three ply pickguard, 3 way toggle and a Floyd.

So yeah, I'm now a Peavey fan.

This is the nicest Mantis I've seen by far! The pickguard now follows the contour of the body and the Floyd is a big improvement. Looks great with the chrome covers too.

Hack has a way of taking my cast offs and MASSIVELY IMPROVING them lol

except oddly the Predator---- it was/is soooooo good in its natural state -----it has remained reasonably unchanged

Wow, that turned out great, damn fine looking guitar. Well done. Cheers
:)

It's true. Already had enough pickups. Just needed a set of better tuning machines and the custom maple truss rod cover.

Thanks Dave, that was my plan.
The original pickguard just looked dumb. But Adrian sold it with the stock pickup & pots on Reverb for stupid money.:dood:
Tuning machines too.
We recycle everything here in the swamp.
