This is for anyone who grew up either doing, or watching or had any interest, love, or thrill from Surfing, Skating, Snowboarding, Motocross etc.

I will start with one of the best tributes to a man who could truly be labeled the original seed for Extreme sports such as Surfing and Skateboarding, Jay Adams. Not only Jay, but his predecessors, contemporaries and younger guys he influenced. Check out this movie if you can. I saw it on Amazon Prime video. BTW Having never surfed, the footage and locations displayed in this movie epitomize the raw force and dynamic beauty of the oceans in so many famous spots, and masterfully surfed by some of the ballziest of men to ever live and die doing it.

If you are a serious surfer fan, you should know about a movie called Endless Summer by Bruce Brown. Bruce is also known for his movie about motorcycles called On Any Sunday. I grew up with On Any Sunday and admired Bruce for many years. In his later years Bruce was active in Rally racing and this is where I had a chance to meet him and work on his pit crew for the Rim of the World Rally.

HAHA Gary, that is right at the end of our neighborhood.

Avalon is one of the all-time great places to ride for cross-country. I went to races all over the East Coast and there are very, very few rivals to that place. The McKeldin area is pretty fun too but the trial network is tiny compared to Avalon. I used to park on Landing Road, normally at the west/Ilchester end near the cider mill where all the riders leave their cars.

I skated street and a little half pipe and some pools back in the day. I also did some pretty extreme ramp jumping on bicycles and a little mountain biking.

I took a few big spills on the mountain bike around the age of 46 and had to give it up. Now I only have a beach cruiser bike and a street cruiser skateboard...

Here is the board I still use now and then...
