Mark 5:25 Combo

I still own a Mesa cabinet sold the MK2C amp been stuck on the EF86 Vox AC15 meets Dumble SSS crossover amp
for the last five years. One thing I did learn from Randall Smith was the transformers 1983 on EIA code 606 were wound in Mexico
and they sound like it Randall had to find new transformers for his amps

Now, that Mesa Mark Five:25 does seem to be quite an involved amp - most of the clips I've seen mention how much effort it is to dial in - it's kinda like a 6 channel amp with huge sculpting options on each channel, and reverb on each channel, and a second eq section on each channel... Confusing!

The problem is that people go in thinking the tone stack works like other amps (Fender and Marshall to be specific) and instead of reading the manual and using the recommended settings as benchmarks they dial the amp in the way they would another amp and end up with something muddy or shrill. Once you learn how the knobs work - they are all interactive - it's as intuitive to dial in great tones as any other amp, and a lot more versatile than most.

Good to know brother, the only time I played a Mesa it was already dialed in, and I didn’t change a thing.

Stumbled across this Mesa Mark Five: 25 demo this morning. Good guitar player that uses an LP and a Strat for demoing. Even though it's not a combo amp, the video shows an honest view of the versatility and gorgeous sounds that this little monster amp is capable of...
