Nice intro VoxAC30 and welcome to the zoo.

Gahr, this looks lovely. Worth a trip to Norway in a 15 meter single masted clinker hull, single deck rowing/sailing ship
with high posts at bow and stern, on which to mount beast heads if we are going Viking, or take them down if we are at peace.
This is my favored brand right now:

That would be some trip! But, hey, Leiv Erikson made it to Newfoundland over a thousand years ago, so why not? You are certainly most welcome.

How does it sound, brother?

I couldn't be more pleased. Better than any Gibson's I have owned...even better than our "studio mule" 1979 Gibson Les Paul Custom and DEAD QUIET. With the .033uf/.015uf K40Y tone capcitors, the tone rolls off smoothly in an arc and it actually seems to get brighter near the low limit of ton knob movement. It really is precise. The neck pickup is never muddy...very clear and defined...truly amazing, considering how much work and time I have invested... :-)

what pups Robert the GFSs

GFS Classic II's KPH 167/168. Bridge has wider 51.5mm string spacing, neck is narrower at around 50mm.

External dimensions are identical to my Gibson 57 Classic's and the GFS use the Gibson adjustment screws.

Pickups are Alinco II and they are Double Wax Potted.

Bridge measures 7.93k and neck measures 7.88k @ 56 degrees Fahrenheit.

Good job man. Glad it worked out!
So can we assume it's now a keeper?

Well, Alex...

Tone wise, definitely. I can tell you that it's the best sounding SG I have ever personally heard. It has this bell like quality. I tried to shoot some videos last night, but just couldn't capture it on the wife's I-pad. The criteria for it being a "keeper" has a lot to do with the guitar proving itself. That means high volume testing in an actual performance, seeing if I can really live with the SG shape, the way the strap attaches....I mean, to be a keeper, this guitar has to have the potential to earn me money, so I'm really looking at it under a microscope so to speak.

Tell you what...the Tone Man harness was worth every penny...

Hmmmmm....

So I replaced the PCB in my 2016 Gibson with a vintage wire harness and got rid of 3 sets of noisy Gibson pickups and installed GFS pickups, which finally produced the tone I was looking for.....Is it still a Gibson???
