Picked up and older Peavey USA Triumph 60 with Ultra Gain. Didn't come with the pedal, so it will be fun tracking one down, but I guess that's part of the fun. I've owned a the Triumph 120 that I really liked to use in a gig'n band. I also own another Triumph 60 that I actually gave away as a gift. You can only use the one channel with out a foot switch and that one channel worked fine, speaker seemed fine - definitely has at least one microphonic tube. It will probably sit until a find/buy a footswitch for it make one. 'Til then I can go thru it, clean things up, touch up solder joints, test tubes, and what not...

Congratulations on your amp score.. :strat: :H5:

Congrats on the score too! Sorry to hear about the speaker trouble though...

Does yours sound like the clip. I think he is unhappy with signal noise. The speaker sounds bad. I think the amp Rocks though.
Just needs a new speaker. I have a Fender Champion 110 that the clean sounds real descent, the dirt tones however give me
similar speaker sounds.

If the speaker is gooched Kev, I have a 12" Ampeg branded 8 ohm 80 watt speaker you're welcome to.
Research leads me to believe it's an older Eminence, but the ID label is unlegible.

Sounded great in the Ampeg (when it worked) and sounded equally good in a Mesa F50 while the Mesa Black Shadow was being reconed.
Just sitting here.
If you want it, it's yours.

What's the speaker doing, or not doing?

It's just giving out with you push it. Distorted it covers it up pretty well, but clean you can here giving out. I've own two of these amps before, a couple bands and gig'n out with the one, and when the speaker is up to par you can push the amp pretty much to the limits and it takes it - one of the reasons I like it - it's like a 4x12 crammed into a 1x12 combo - lol. I am going to remove the basket to check it out the coil and try a re-install, but I doubt it will help, but worth a shot - it's free, just a little time.

I appreciate the offer, may take you up on it, although I really would like the original speaker if possible. I've heard some say they prefer swapping the original speaker out, but personally I think Peavey had a power house amp going on here and Scorpion Ultra speakers did a really good job at guitar for as high powered as they are. BUT, see what happens, I kind of thinking about a higher power Eminence or maybe the WGS ET90. No hurry, no worries - see what happens ;)

Got around to checking out the scorpion speaker. The cone is tearing loose from around the dust cap. Best fix is obviously a new basket, but I'm going to try to repair it - nothing to lose. Now I just have to decide how I want to go about it.

Speaker has been repaired and installed back in - no pics though - opps. Here's what I did though. Did the whole paper towel and Elmer's Glue All on the front. Once that dried used some thin out paint-able caulk over top off that. Spray the front lightly with flat black. On the back I just used thinned out Elmer's glue, once that cured I covered it with weldwood contact cement. Being the cone was cracked/torn 3/4 of the way around the dust cap kind of went overboard. Ya, it definitely won't sound the same, but the cone was toast either way, so, why not. At the moment the amp is cranking up via variac 5/10 volts thru out the day - will run it a few hours on BB King or something - who knows how long this amp sat around. Once I'm done torturing it I'll give it a sound test. I don't expect the speaker to last even if it sound OK, so, ya, it'll need a replacement speaker either way I guess.
