Norlin -- its "weird" -- by most standards-- (of Gibson truest faithfuls) --- but as we have previously discussed the NORLIN stuff was SOME OF THE BEST Gibson stuff --
they TRIED new--
like Sonex 180s and Invaders-- and G3's and L6's and S-1's -- Corvus and the Futura
great guitars----

It's an '81 SG Firebrand Deluxe. Goldburst, ebony 'board, Shaw neck and Super bridge, side jack. Got this at Norman's about a year and a half ago, and grabbed it because it is somewhat rare in this finish and it sounds absolutely incredible through an amp. This is before I gave it a good polish and the picture here doesn't show that this guitar was gigged/played heavily: there isn't a lot of finish left on the back of the neck and there are spots on both bouts that have worn through to the wood. The thing oozes mojo and sound fantastic but the shape of the neck (it's very fat and round) and the super-low frets have been a challenge for me so I am thinking about moving it.
My 79 Custom has the typical 70’s-style low frets. It plays like a wet dream.LPR has super low frets-- as does (same era) my PEavey T-60-- they do take some "getting used to"
As I told Goo once before -- the LPR, MAKES me a better player in that -- I HAVE TO use good form and pay attention or it sounds like triple-- instead of my normal slop crop double
playing on a regular fretted guitar ----
thats a beaut there G man -- and looks like ya got a FISH ON![]()
