The Sofa Swerved Right Into My Lane, Officer:

The deductible isnt the problem. The problem is that the insurance is assigning such a low value to the car.

The adjuster commented, "wow...i didnt know anybody drove 13 year old cars anymore..."

I'm so sorry to hear what your going through beyond the accident itself. Its like adding insult to injury.
I'm still hoping something great will come out of this for you and your family. :dood:

Tell him you have a TTR friend that’s driving a 12 year old Honda that will be bumping 200k this time next year.

I don’t have a big problem dodging things flying out of trucks. My problem is dodging idiots that run red lights and stop signs. Pull out in front of me at the last minute. Follow way to close. Basically idiots driving with theirs heads inserted so deeply up their backside it’s no wonder they can’t see how to drive.

Are big driving problem in just the last couple of years or so, people going the wrong way on the freeways. Don't know why all of a sudden this has now become an issue out of the blue. It seems to be happening every couple of weeks, someone is doing this. Some are elderly, and some impaired. Most happening over night.

Happens in the Chicago land area a bit more often that it should. Usually in conjunction with an eventual DUI.

I just never heard of this happening my whole life, and I'm 54. Are people drinking more, or the alcohol stronger.

Chicago is heavily populated, and in are Phoenix metro area we have grown major since 76.
Point being, more people causing it somehow...or just increasing the chance of it happening..

Its a horrific thing to have happen.

I can’t recall the last one, but about 7 years ago there was a rash of them happening here as well, not so much lately, thank god

That’s great news Robert,
about time the insurance company foots the bill.
For a change!!
:)

Got a rental car and estimated repair time is (6) days. They will recon the LF alloy wheel with the slight bend in the lip (as it has been discontinued now and a replacement is no longer available.) I even saved them a few $$$ because I have (2) brand new front tires sitting in the garage, so that saves the cost of replacing the one damaged LF tire.

Another cool deal....when the car was crashed Monday night, I had it towed to a chum's repair shop for free storage and the opportunity for the adjuster to be able to inspect it on a hoist.

The repair estimate spec'd out an aftermarket radiator ($154.00) and a aftermarket A/C condensor ($129.00). Through my chum's licensed repair shop, he can BEAT those prices on genuine Motorcraft ($134.00 for the radiator and only $96.00 for the condensor) much better than the Made In China pieces and even cheaper....!!!!!!

Plus, the estimate pays $95.00/hour for the mechanical repairs - basically 4.4 hours to R&R the Radiator/Condensor/Cooling Fan and evacuate and re-charge the A/C system. My chum's shop rate for insurance work is $85.00/hour, so I may end up doing the radiator/condensor/cooling fan and A/C system service myself (at his shop) then take the car to the body shop for just the cosmetics....
