The Sofa Swerved Right Into My Lane, Officer:

I feel it for sure...

I would have had a darn STROKE...

I got a ticket when I was 18 and never again....I drove racing cars and worked as a competition driving instructor. I never had an accident.

On February 28, 2016, I was traveling west on 210 Freeway in Sylmar, when a vehicle changed lanes abruptly behind me, clipping my rear bumper and sent me into the guardrail at 70 mph...

The other driver fled the scene. Cal-Trans sent me a bill for the guardrail, even though the CHP report said "Not At Fault - Other Drive Fled Scene.' Fortunately, my uninsured motorist paid for almost $100,000 worth of guardrail...

Glad you’re doing well buddy, like has been said the car can be fixed.
I know the pain though.
I hit a plastic bed liner out of somebody’s truck,, and it took out my bumper and turn signal on the drivers side one morning.

Then, on December 31st, 2016, I was stopped on the 215 freeway for a huge accident when I was rear-ended by a guy in a Chevy Avalanche. It totaled his Checy and it had to be towed away from the scene.

Fit Crash.jpg

It was raining and his statement in the crash report was "I was doing about 75 - looked up and couldn't stop. I swerved, but hit the car anyways..."

He was not cited for unsafe speed for conditions. He had only liability insurance with a $15,000 policy limit. I spent $24,000 in physical therapy. They fixed my wife's - then brand new Honda - but after the attorney's worked on the case for 3 years, we got zero dollars because in california - you can only sue for the policy limits if the person has no property or other assets...

Three crashes in 3 years and NONE were my fault...

That just sucks!

I keep my ponies in the stable now n drive a kinda tricked F-350 4x4 with a 4” pipe bumper in front n 6” pipe in the back filled with cement....
8” lift on 44’s ...
Like driving a mini dump truck...No more door dings or fender benders...

My fav thing now, when a Stooge decides to test the limits n pullsl out in front of the beast, espec in a fancy BEEMER OR BETTER, my hillbilly seff hits the gas:celebrate2:

I would STOKE OUT if my ponies got hurt...

Glad your safe though, that could have been much worse, but still makes ya sick..

Wow, that really sucks Robert. That is a nice Mustang ya got. I make it a habit to never drive behind a pickup or work truck with crap in the back. A few years ago we were on the 91 westbound in the Camaro behind a pickup with a BBQ grill and other crap in the back. Then, in what seemed like slow motion, the grill starts rising up out of the bed, hits the slip stream while the truck drives out from under it. We’re only a few car lengths behind and without looking I pull a hard left into the fast lane, thank goodness no one was there. I missed it by just a few feet. I looked in the rear view mirror and when the grill hit the freeway there was debris flying in all directions. I’d guess at least a half dozen cars got damaged from what I saw driving away.
Frigging idiot did not even have it tied down, let alone, had the grill grates, bbq tools and briquettes loose inside. They went everywhere.

I narrowly missed somebody's bed liner at cruising speed on the highway about ten years ago.
Don't know how I was able to avoid it - the thing was the size of a hot tub.

Sorry brother. Glad you are OK. If you have collision coverage, pay the deductable and let a shop do the work. The deductable has to be less than the parts alone.

The deductible isnt the problem. The problem is that the insurance is assigning such a low value to the car.

The adjuster commented, "wow...i didnt know anybody drove 13 year old cars anymore..."

Tell him you have a TTR friend that’s driving a 12 year old Honda that will be bumping 200k this time next year.

I don’t have a big problem dodging things flying out of trucks. My problem is dodging idiots that run red lights and stop signs. Pull out in front of me at the last minute. Follow way to close. Basically idiots driving with theirs heads inserted so deeply up their backside it’s no wonder they can’t see how to drive.
