Had to play something on my '#3' through the DSL40C as well...identical amp settings as other recent videos.

Enjoyed this Jam Robert! :dood::dood::dood:
Between you, Mitch, and mcblinks clips, I don't like what I've been playing on amp wise. LOL
You guys have spoiled me with these great clips of real amps!
I followed your conversation with Mitch about the Blackstar. Do you have a clip of it in action...
This one was recorded on my Blackstar ID-core 100 watt direct out...
Listen to Fantasy - Aldo Nova Cover by Von Herndon on #SoundCloud
Damn Fine Cover of this song on All accounts! :dood: :dood: :dood:
Blackstar ID-core 100 watt direct out is really good.
On most amps, the direct out is a hit and miss type thing. Blackstar got it right!!
That Crunch your getting is just Sic!!
It's strange in a way, because the Blackstar doesn't sound great live, but it takes on a different character when used direct-out. Its permanently hooked up to my DAW...
There is the difference between solid state and tubes.
Solid state will tend to sound flat and this shows more with the louder it gets.
Tube tone has dimension to it. I can't stand my solid state gear after listening to the tube tone clips. My ear misses the dimension.
This is my guess on what Mitch is hearing.
Although, you are getting a sic recording tone with that Blackstar and that set up! :dood:
Damn Robert, you are one talented (keep it clean lol) Dude!! :dood: :dood: :dood:
Excellent on All Accounts! Vocals, Guitar just wow!
Yea, would not get rid of the Blackstar. A lot of famous guitarist used one rig live and something different in the studio.
No right or wrong here, just what works for any of us at a given time.
This Works!
I play a lot of solid state because of living in AZ. Temps in summer 105 to 115 degrees.
A tube amp is like sitting in front of a space heater. LOL
I've got this amp on my radar!
John
Agree on all points. Def don't get rid of the Blackstar - I have one too and I love it for recording and for practicing with headphones. The internal speakers are an affront to the mere concept of good tone, but it sounds incredible through the cans.

gball, you have the same one as Robert...the head version.
Is this what you guys are using.. and does it need a cab hooked up to it....

I think we are all using the ID:Core, which is a little less fully evolved than the 150.
I agree with the comments above though. It's nice for 'phones or putting together song sketches on the laptop but digital/solid state amps are no replacement for tube amps and personally I would never allow another human being to hear me play through one. If I was performing or recording something more permanent it would be a tube amp...the line out from the CabClone in my Mark 5 completely destroys the sound of the Blackstar (and it should for 16 times the price!) but what's nice about the B'star is it has all the effects built-in so makes it super-simple.

They were definitely created with the gigging musician in mind. That's a very good attribute IMO.
