Tonight's band practice take aways

In our last band, AC/DC was frowned upon. The bassist didn't dig them....so we did tons of Led Zeppelin....which was really cool to me.

There was also an unwillingness to do drop tuned Eb songs.

I've always preferred Eb and rather than change guitars for certain songs, I prefer to just tune to Eb and stay there. On long nights, it really helps the vocalist.

We got tapped one night to cover three different bands that cancelled at three different Palm Springs casinos. That worked out to be 6 hours (3 two hour Performances with 15 minutes off on the hour) and our singer would have never been able to pull it off tuned to standard.

I'm the logistics guy. I'm thinking about cable length, equipment weight, drummer longevity, singer's vocal endurance and all that sort of thing...
Def understand the Eb...was there for years with male singer. Soon as Female switch .was easily able to go back to standard. I dropped down all day yesterday and immediately a bunch of creativity happened..like a familiarity with the open E flat tone ..that lil 1/2 step adds character. Then of course we went to the gutter from there, now the Firebird is in drop C. Realized each downtune. tend to get heavier automatically and real chords go out the window.

I use these if I crank it up. I did my research before hand and found good reviews on these. They are comfortable work well also if you are a singer it lets you hear better without a muffled sound.

Not exactly Tubes or AC/DC, Bocc,,,,,,,,, but I am sure your band won't be playing any of Winter's, Chithe'ilist, or Rammstein tunes.

Definitely many similar bands and tunes like theirs out there now though.
