Yesterday we were out Christmas shopping when I spotted a kiosk, that was selling signs, decals , T-shirts, that kind of stuff you know what I mean. So I said to my Wife you go ahead I will meet up with you, I would like to take a look at these things. There was a rack loaded with all kinds of decals, so as I was looking through them and came across this. I started to chuckle to myself , it was so true, I can relate to that to some extent, I am certain there are others here that can as well, if not now possibly a few years down the road.DSC00356.JPG

I’ve joked around about renaming our band “Sons of Dementia” as the drummer and myself are dealing with our fathers suffering from dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.

My mom had dementia when she died. The last 5-6 months she was alive, when I would go see her, she looked at me and knew my face, but not who I was.
That was terrible to deal with.

Forgive me for being insensitive to my other brothers and sisters of this form that are going through the same
or similar situations with loved ones. I apologize.

My heartfelt sympathies go out to you @SG John and all going through this with loved ones.

I personally went through a scare of what I thought was dementia with my own Mom. Fortunate for our situation it turned out Mom was very much
sleep deprived and also need her high blood pressure meds to be upped. Mom is doing fine for being 89. God Bless our parents!

It's kind of tough as he's quite stubborn, but you can see he's also quite confused about everything around him. I don't mean to sound cruel or irreverend, but sometimes humor is the only way to deal with him. Fortunately for now, I don't have to be too much more involved than I am. I'm sure things will change. Right now he's going through chemo for his kidneys. The docs seem to think he'll regain 100% usage. He keeps dodging bullets healthwise, but his brain doesn't want to keep up with his body.

I didn't think you were being disrespectful at all. I understand where your coming from. That is good news about the kidneys!
My Mom is also quite stubborn too! Its that drive that keeps them going.

Getting old ain't for wimps thats for sure.
Heres to praying for the best for all our family members! :dood:

I have a song i wrote ,Maybe some of the most intense words i have put down. My grandpop & Wife's father both passed on from Alzheimer. As the mind wondered, it was so painful to see them. weaken. Strong men being slowly taken prisoner in their own minds. Every once and awhile..a childish smile...bursts of normality..then all the sudden they didn't know you. One was gentle as he succumbed to it, the other very stubborn..very strong still..very hard to manage.

Both of them at the very end had to be watched all the time. It was very sad to not be able to help the men..who had helped so many. I almost got the song in an official scratch track many times, but..i break everytime...one day my tribute to them will happen..

Both men where so opposite today's man. They made a difference in those around them..in a positive way..never ever worried about themselves first..always family..i admire them more than any jock..guitar spanker or celebrity..
