Attention Vette Lovers

At one time, the 427 Cobra was the fastest car 0-100-0. Read a description given by a magazine editor that was riding shot gun. Paraphrasing his words since I read it 40+ years ago......

“When the driver dumped the clutch..... I wet my pants..... when he hit the brakes.... I wet them again.”
More than likely wet them when the driver hit the brakes, because with 4 drums not much in stopping power. ;)

DAYUM Robert!!! You play killer guitar, you've have driven and worked on some bad a$$ cars and owned some bad a$$ cars. Is there anything you can't do or haven't done?

I have to credit my parents, Grant. They always encouraged me to reach for the stars and Dad got me into riding motorcycles, competition motorsports, flying airplanes, shooting sports, you name it.

I honestly feel like i can offer no other explanation other than I've been blessed???

Well it's a good thing that the actual C8 doesn't look like that. Ford.

Looks like Ford got their design from Ferrari

Too bad that the top of the line Mustang GT500 with a larger supercharged engine can't beat the smaller normally aspirated entry level C8 Corvette around the track.

I can't wait to see what the Z06 and Z1R will do....

Hideous styling, LS inherent design flaws carry over to the C8.

There's a reason its cheap...

From the Motor Trend Website. December 17, 2019 Their driver (Randy Probst) beat the C8 on a 3.3 mile road course with GT500...noting the C8 displayed midcorner understeer and drop throttle oversteer, "In fact, the 'Vette transfers weight rearward so well that it sometimes goes into another kind of slide: understeer. The front loses grip a bit prematurely as a result of the light front loads..."

"The GT500 has that magic combination of steering response at the limit: the ability to tighten its line while loaded laterally in the middle of a corner, without losing grip at the back..."

I forget everything intentionally but these two points - understeer and mid-corner anomalies will kill you quickly...

Good thing that those VooDoo engines never had any problems, huh?

Ford v Chevy...
Fender v Gibson...
Chocolate v Strawberry...
Wine v Beer...
Hamburgers v Burritos...

I don't own a Ford or a Chevy...
I do own a Gibson...
I prefer Chocolate...
I prefer Beer...
I love both Hamburgers and Burritos.

It all comes down to personal choice,. I would choose to hold a hamburger in one hand and a burrito in the other but then I could not hold the steering wheel, or a guitar.

The main difference is GM is still blaming the oil for the powdered rod failures, despite GM engineering documents identifying the rods as a known design flaw....and its going on year after year without ever being corrected. GM is ignoring the problem.

The Corvette is the only car that had to have an engine swap to make it through a Car & Driver road test.

These 6 mile and 862 mile LS engine failures are being justified by GM owners.

Unacceptable...

Same driver, Same track

And i can post tests (and did) with other driver's where the Mustang is faster on a road course.

But, if you can tolerate GM's historical Corvette failings and intentional refusal to address known design flaws, then you are far more tolerant than me.

C8 is a $20 street hooker in a brand new dress borrowed from an italian designer. Its everything Ford was doing in the 60's and everything the Italians have perfected, ripped off, sold cheap and called "America's Sports Car."

GM will sell many and the handling anomalies and power will kill many.

Older LS engines maybe, but the new entry level C8 will have a LT engine.

That is the entry level Stingray. Z06, Z1R and Zora will have a DOHC flat plane crank that is no LS...

Actually the new 2020 C8 does not share any of design from previous generation Corvettes. The only part that was carried over from the C7 is the door latch, other than that door latch the only other thing that carried over is the name Corvette.

Actually, Chevy and Zora Arkus-Duntov have been working with mid engine designs for over 60 years. The bigest problem with "The General" has been it was lead by a marketing team. The marketing team is no longer in control of the Corvette, the engineering team is now at the wheel, so to say. There is even a rumor that Corvette might branch of into it's own separate company.
