Ibanez Tube Screamer TS9 Not Working

I still remember the first I heard of Barber. My friend Craig is also a friend of Dave's and they were working on developing pedal prototypes together. I remember Craig showing me 2 black box pedals as he told me how Dave asked him to test em and let him know what he thought. Craig's feedback was to combine both pedals in one.

Then one day I wanted to show Craig my friend's Roy Smeck Recording King guitar. Craig had me come over to Dave's basement where they were soldering up circuit boards for pedals. I wish I was a good enough player back then to have bought one of those early runs of Barber pedals.

Well, if it makes you feel better....: The GAS and the many voices arguing in my head has forced me into ordering the Barber Direct Drive v3.

… Now all those voices are laughing! WTF... I can't win... :run:

Hi...try with the pedal using a battery for power. If the same behavior shows itself, its the pedal. If not, it's the 1-Spot. You can get contact PureTone about the 1-Spot if that is the case. I have a 1-Spot and haven't had a problem with it in the 10 years I've had it. Doesn't mean they don't go bad. Could be the pedal. Set everything half way on the knobs to start, go from there.

Kelly. Who are you replying to? If me and my original problems, I found part of the culprit, then accepted Sysco's offer to send my pedal to him. He fixed the diodes problem, reconnected some loose wires, installed my switch and gave the pedal his test drive. Then mailed it back to me good as new.

PS EDIT. I will let Sysco correct any mistaken info on what happened to my pedal out in California. Also, if anything was done regarding the chip in it, he will confirm which one my pedal originally came with vs. the go to chip and if he swapped anything in that regard.

OK SYSCO, I am remiss in not having asked if the Barber Pedal came and how you like it.

I replaced the blown diode at the DC power supply jack

Added an 8-pin socket and installed a JRC 4558D op amp. The original op amp was fried and not working at all.

I replaced the old internal foot switch with one of the new ones that you supplied. Old switch was still working but was extremely worn.

Reattached the loose black wire to the new foot switch. Reconnected the red/white wire to the switch, too. Three strands of the red/white wire were frayed at the switch.

The red wire from the battery to the circuit board was completely broken off. So of course I reconnected it, too.

Reconnected the three wires to the input jack. They were in bad shape. In fact the two black wires were hanging by one strand of wire.

Excellent overdrive pedal, especially with that JRC 4558D chip at the helm!

The Barber Direct Drive v3 is a keeper for sure... (y). Thanks for asking. I can't remember if I posted a thread on this pedal...
