Got to Wait!

My Firebird is backordered until January! I was playing one at GC yesterday. It is worth the wait. The bridge pup was set way too low on the one I played. It sounded awesome on the neck pup. I played it through a 68 Custom DR limited red letter issue. Sounds just like the regular 68 CDR. This was the third Firebird I have ever played.

Very cool. Last nite working out some chord progressions for next song. had the Firebird into Super Reverb..clean was just very clear & bell like....then hit Klon Cl just to edge the break..it really is a lead machine. I used it on Quite a Few songs on last yerars CD & on 'Away" this year into VM 2266. It plays well in fender & marshall...the pups really hit an amp in their own way..prob why i got it. there is just some sting naturally avail in this bird !!

Sorry to hear it. But welcome to the Firebird club, even if prematurely. They really are amazing guitars - I spent the weekend giving my Firebird I a workout, and I gotta say that guitar keeps finding new ways to put a smile on my face.

Update, I got a text today saying I'll be getting it in a few days. Yeepee! Yes!! It is a tobacco burst with mini humbuckers. The kid who told me it would ship in January was mistaken. The lady I deal with called me and let me know. I will post photos soon.

Good news. Keep in mind, those Firebird pickups are not mini humbuckers. They eat mini humbuckers for breakfast: extremely high output and with a ton of bite, but still very balanced and controllable. Closest analogy I can think of is super-hot Tele pickup without the hum. You'll love em.

Bite is very cool! I'm a big fan of balanced and controllable.

I got my Firebird last night. The hard case is huge! This is the first Gibson I got that was in a box with all the swag! They even send you a photo of it on the bench in the factory. I played it unplug a whole bunch last night. Today I was very busy with Dad and lab tests so I just got to try it out a little while ago. It plays and sounds very nice and strong. It still has the plastic on the pick guard. Anyhow! Here are two photos. I'm being bugged to go fetch some food now.

Just beautiful! Firebirds are very special guitars.

Question: any idea when they changed the headstock? My 2016 has the Steinberger tuners and the bi-level headstock and I thought they were still doing them this way other than changing the tuners (the black plastics are Creamtone not original)
