They threw me in the mix yesterday(working on some background vocal be incorporated in songs) ..it worked..never be a main singer but it was in key & pitch..anyways.,,,more of a writer than a guitar player...would enjoy trying a song.. do duets with J for fun & background stuff live...i admire singers....your voice is so vulnerable to criticism..and it is what ya born with...

also..studio wants to do a full blown video on our next song...starting with live studio shots to match the playing to transpose into video.my studio guy want to bring choir in & strings on this one... then out in public filming the concept of the story...looks like in this day & age ya need a video to take the next step..if things go right should be dropping 40 songs on 4 dif Albums..a video,,the website & social media blitz soon,,

turning the production of next song over to the powers that be..cept they can not mess my song up..lol

Most nervous I've ever been was the first time singing live in public. It still makes me nervous every time. I don't think many singers like the sound of their own voice.
great point..its when you hear your voice...ahh...maybe the singers i know that own it..they just got used to their voice.. know exactly what you mean tho..wow does that shock you..you hear what other people hear..we tend to be so harsh on ourselves !!

I went to college partially on a vocal scholarship. I had to do two solo pieces on stage in front of the faculty and anybody else that wanted to listen. I think one was an Irish folk song and the other was Italian. I don't speak Italian and these had to be memorized. I was 17 at the time and scared as poop. I got the scholarship, so must have not been too bad. I hate the sound of my voice when I hear it played back. Still trying to get over it.

I never liked my vocals, but i got started singing because we had unreliable singers.

Tell you what i love - voice caricatures. I do immitations of Yoda, several Simpson's characters, Sean Connery, Clint Eastwood, and others.

I often sing in the guise of a vocal character to add to the depth of a song.

Here's my normal speaking voice from a 2011 radio station ID spot:

Listen to Electric Blues Radio Station ID Spot by Von Herndon on #SoundCloud

Here's a voice caricature i did in a recent demo recording:

Listen to Out In The Fields - Gary Moore Cover - Speaking Voice by Von Herndon on #SoundCloud

I also sing backup in different voice caricatures, so a song sounds like several back up singers are at work.

Heres a clip of me singing lead and (6) tracks of backing vocals:

Listen to Nothing But A Good Time - UNFINISHED DEMO by Von Herndon on #SoundCloud

Keep up the good work!!!!!

That folks is how ya do it !! great stuff Robert !!

What sang'n I did was mainly because people heard me sang and told me I needed to start sang'n - not that I consider my self a sang'er though. I like Tom Petty's sang'n too. In seriousness, I believe my favorite singers are those who sound different/original and stand out (whether or not they have a 3 octave voice or not type thing). Roy Orbison is another voice I like.

Hey @BFT Gibson where's your video?????
they will do the process starting on next song. Have to work on the video play out like the lyrics in some scenes. Will be my first attempt to make a song be a story. Should be a fun challenge. We are hoping for J to be healthy enough ro participate. Not been so good lately they want to hit C0 & C1 next week on her neck,,not very nice situation for her..

Singing in the car is a good choice, I just had to make sure I had some Limo Tint on the ole winders just for those events..:pound-hand:

I remember a buddy of mine, back in the teenager years, that was very serious about singing and singing while playing rhythm. He was into the whole breathing, etc as I remember. He was actually pretty good at playing rhythm and singing covers.
