Back in 2017 they found a small growth on my left kidney, had it biopsied and it was benign. Fast forward to last September when I had a follow up CT done, the out come was not what I wanted to hear and was sent to Southern Illinois Medical and Research Hospital. The diagnosis was as follows;

I have a softball sized tumor growing on and in my left kidney and pushing on my pancreas and covering the adrenal gland. There is a 80% probability it's malignant and it is going to require surgery and I will be losing part or all of my kidney. Due to the proximity of my pancreas the surgery is going to be done by robotic arms (kinda cool really.) they don't want to risk nicking the pancreas and also make sure it hasn't metastasized into it. I got T-Boned with the consultation and I'm still trying to process it while maintaining my witty charm. But it all really sucks.......

To add insult to injury, my live in girl friend Dodie is going in this Friday for a chemical stress test done in the CT scanner with a contrast added. She suffered a heart attack when she was 44 and has no real follow up in 21 years. If they find any blockage they'll take her to surgery.

I'll check in from time to time, I'm not scheduling my surgery until we see what happens Friday. Wish us luck.

Thanks,
GW

Dude!!!!

That's not an easy thing to deal with, let alone talk about. I'm honored you are sharing this.

Out here, we pray for folks, and while I don't try to force my views upon others, we will be mentioning you good folks in those prayers.

Wishing you peace, strength and health...

Wow. Benign to that. They maybe should have kept a better eye on it?? I wish you all the best in this.
My wife had benign brain surgery 3 years ago. It was done via a brain GPS system using a 3 D scan of her brain from MRI.
But this isn't about her. I just wanted to say jt all went well even though it was 16 hrs of surgery. The robotic arms will do the trick mate!! Good luck with all of it, keep us in the loop.

Sad news, but not terrible. One of my best friends went through a similar procedure a few years ago. Fortunately, his was not putting pressure on the Pancreas. They still took out most of one of his kidneys. Because we live in the times we do, it should go well for you. He said the worst part for him was recovering from having stuff removed, then stuffed back in place. He's back to his normal self now. I wish you nothing but the best, and hopefully your doctors are the best.
