YOUR FIRST ALBUM

My first album purchase was either:

Elton John Caribou
ELO El Dorado, or
American Graffiti Soundtrack

Music constantly poured into our household. It's hard to remember who bought what. Mother bought rock and roll, country and gospel music. Dad bought classical and folk material. My mother, at 79 years young, is still an active buyer and concert-goer. This year alone, she has attended the Texas Tenors, Johnny Mathis and Paul Anka.

Jerry Reed could be pretty funny/hilarious too...

When I was a kid I would religiously watch The Glen Campbell Good Time Hour every week, and hope that Jerry would be playing at some point. I think he was the first person to influence me to want t o play guitar. Aside from being very funny, he made it look so easy. I've seen videos where he's playing with Chet Atkins, and Chet is looking dumbfounded at the way Jerry would play. I only found out recently that Jerry wrote many of Chet's tunes.

I was a HUGE Dean Martin fan when I was younger and pretty much remained and still am a Dean Martin fan. Glen Campell was great too. When I was growing up there was a ton of variety programs with music and I think I watched them all. People laugh, but I really like the Lawrence Welk Show - there was some very talented people on that show...

Ya, Jerry Reed and Chet Atkins - man... I'm itching for some good ole variety music shows...

I never bought albums as a kid but my first album was a Meet the Beatles record for Christmas one year from family friends.
My dad would always bring brand new record albums home from work.
All kinds of albums came home with him.
Pretty sure a coworker of his was getting a back door discount somewhere.
He'd ask me "you ever hear of these hippies?" and hand me an album.
