Just curious and wanted some collective input. On a Flay Rose, when action is adjusted, I suppose - like a ABR - one side will be lower than the other??? How much variation from side to side (bass to treble) is acceptable, before it creates a problem in returning to pitch???

Sorry for the uneducated question, but I don't have a lot of time in with Floyds....

You can adjust the treble side a bit lower than the bass if necessary. You just wind the posts up and down. If the difference is dramatic I'd say something is wrong!

The crucial thing is that the knife edge contacts the post at 90 degrees. This ensures proper up and down floating action and prevents binding on the post and subsequent damage to posts and knife edges.

Dave's on the money here. If you want the bass side more than just a smidge higher I'd suggest shimming the saddles. The shims only come in one thickness (0.3mm?), but they are easily made from old feeler gauges, so you could get each saddle exactly at the desired height. Cheers

Good idea. I have several sets on hand for general setup.

I have a Fernandes Revolver Pro, I have the Bass side raised just enough to give me something to dig in on and I prefer the bridge itself to be parallel with the body. I've never had to shim anything.

Before I shimmed my FR's saddles I had the bass side a little higher with no problems. I shimmed the saddles to make the bridge's saddle radius (12") comply with neck's compound radius (12"~16"), so with the bridge leveled, took care of all string height using shims, it just made sense to do it that way. Cheers
