Angled/Compensated Trem Claw:

Angled/compensated claw is definitely in the 'snake oil' category. Don't get sucked in by the 'upgrades' bull. If you buy a top quality unit like a Gotoh everything you could possibly need comes with it and is best quality.

Some people make money by dreaming these theories up. When I was a teenager I did a selling course and the first lesson was that we had to create a need where no need exists. This is exactly what these people are doing. If you think about it a compensated claw is just stupid. If you need a bit more tension on the treble side winding the screw on the claw in a turn or two more is more than adequate. Same goes for the angled springs nonsense. Unless you are running out of adjustment there is no need to resort to this, which generally just introduces binding resistance. You would be better off investing in some heavier strings in that case

angles happen if you are you using short screwriver & the screw starts to thread into the wood on an angle. If not pre drilled a tiny bit, the angle happens from the down force as you turn the driver

I always wanted to get the plans for the mini submarine.
Do you remember the black and the yellow scuba divers ?
That you put the tablets in the tanks and they would go dive down then resurface?
Or the original GI Joe that came with the deep se diving suit, or the orange divers mobile type sub that had a motor and propelled the craft on top of the water, or you could fill the side tanks with water for a slightly submerged action. ??

No but I remember something to that nature, where the divers had a large object in there hands!
The black and yellow divers where about 4” long and you cold interchange the tanks .
They came in a blue box that had a cellophane top to see them !

The Carl V "angled claw" thing is, as Dave said, marketing. Oh, & you have to use my special "Carl V" strings to get the intervals mentioned (in the video) when pulling up on the bar. Yeah sure.
After seeing the video link posted on a forum I tried the "angled claw" thing & here's what I found. The holes in the claw are countersunk to roughly match the screw heads & the holes are a little larger diameter than the shank of the screws. With the claw angled it is skewed on the screw heads. Pulling up on the bar takes the tension off the springs (& claw). Upon releasing the bar the claw does not always return to the same "skewed" position on the screw heads, resulting in an out of tune condition.
Others may use an angled claw successfully, but this was my experience the only time I tried it. Cheers
