I am usually one to be happy with whatever speakers my amps come with. However, after selling off a vintage 1972ish Rola Greenback loaded Basketweave Marshall Cab, I wound up with a 300 watt 1960 A stereo cab with G12-75's

Now I also wound up buying an Eminence Governor loaded 4x12 cab and was curious how some of my favorite speakers sound and even sound in comparison to one another. So, here goes.

The Altec 417-8H series 2 if you can find them The first Mesa amps Randy Rhoads used them in his Marshall cabinets.
Next EVM-12S and the EVM-12L

Hey 67, I always liked some non Marshall, non Orange, non Vox, non Fender, Non Mesa speakers over the years.
Speakers and Amps from Sunn, WEM, HIWATT and the like.

Any ideas the speaker compliments in these cab enclosures? I was pretty sure the WEM's has EV unless I am totally off base.

I like Marshall 4 x 12" A cabinets still have 3 with 25 watt green backs it's been years but the first time I nailed Jimmi was with 3
Trainwreck Express amps not Marshall heads. In this video Matt has 3 Trainwrecks I only see one cabinet but all amps are on
so my guess is the other cabinets are in a other room

I may be mistaken but I believe both Hiwatt and WEM used Fanes in their cabs.

Hiwatts usually had 50 watt Fanes. I'd post some photos if I was home, and had access to them.

The WEM Starfinder cabinets had 100 watt Fane Crescendos. They were spec'd for David Gilmour.

The Red (or Purple) back 50 Watt Fanes sound amazing. Every one of my amps sounds incredible through my '71 Hiwatt SE4123 4x12.

When I get caught up from being unemployed, I really want to get a second one of those cabinets.

Another million dollar question about those cabs, Steve and John, Are the cabs made of birch ply? I am 99.9% sure they aren't MDF or Particle board STUFF

Yes, Birch ply, double thickness, and much deeper than a Marshall. And heavier. Much, much heavier.
