When I left my house today, to go play with some friends, had no intention of coming home with anything extra.

But it's a New Used Cab Day.

What I have here, i believe, is a 1978 Model 1960 angled 4x12 cabinet.

It's empty for the moment. Soon to be loaded with some nice broken in Greenbacks. It's definitely seen the road lol.20190908_194518.jpg20190908_194539.jpg20190908_195203.jpg20190908_195151.jpg

Very cool! I love hand selecting my speakers. So much possibility! Will you replace the grill?

Really good question, lol.

I'll give it a little time before I make my decision. What do you think? It's not collectors grade, so I don't think it will affect value?

If I do replace I'm leaning towards a checkerboard.

If you are not concerned with genuine restoration to original staus, I would replace it myself just to protect the speakers...and because it would bother me to see it that way.

Kinda how I feel at the moment.

Def not going to restore, and original speakers long gone.

I'm also in the mindset that the grillcloth affects the tone, attenuated the highs. But that could all be in my head as well!

Make it fun. Get a funky cloth. It does not need to be tradiditonal grill cloth. I used a lady's dress on a cab build!

I've always thought that an old burlap feed or seed sack would make a cool grille cloth.
Especially on a distressed barnwood type of cabinet.
It would exude a nice swampy down on the farm wholesomeness that chicks would surly dig.

Never thought of that.

Great idea, I'll be using my old cloth on this cab, but there's more than one project in the batcave.
