Had never even considered that as an option. I have trouble bending the wound Gs on acoustics, but it's been a very long time since I played an electric with a wound G.

The only trouble is that very few string makers make an electric set with a wound G. For most of my guitars, I use a D’Addario set from .010 to .046 with a .018 wound G. For my Les Paul Studio and my Jackson, I buy loose D ‘Addario strings from JustStrings and assemble what amounts to a .009 to .042 set with a .017 wound G string.

After reintonating for the wound G, I am very pleased with the sound and stability of the G string, especially on the Stratocaster.

I’m really kind of hooked on them.

Sorry. It’s taken me this long to come up with a semi-intelligent response.

No response from Hef? Do you suppose it was the picture of you in your bunny suit and cute little fuzzy tail that may have alerted them to “this boy just ain’t right?” Just sayin.

I wonder how it would work with a Bigsby.

At $19.95, it's no too expensive. But, I have to decide if I'm willing to risk $20.00.

Then, again...maybe I could fashion something similar from some round aluminum stock that I have laying around.

I'm not thrilled by its appearance, though. It looks sort of like a mis-placed string tree.

Looking at this thing closer, to me all it does is shift the nut pinch point behind the 2 E strings.
At least the String Butler has rollers to help the strings to move smoother.
This bar just shift the point at which they may be pinched. I believe.

Hmmm...

I always create a slight radius in the mouth of each groove in the nut and I think this is one reason why I dont have tuning issues...
 
have never had 1 Gibson or Epi come out of tune..i do intonate & set on a regular basis....first thing i do .is set neck relief..never more than 1/4 turn///then let it set in...re set action & intonate... month later or season change...maybe nother 1/4 turn..then re do action..intonate...all while watching TV...very rarely will my guitars change tuning..even if they hang on the wall fir 2 -3 weeks not in the rotation of daily use...

The Floyd retainer holds your strings down, but doesn't hold them straight and I'm not sure just cutting grooves would get deep enough to keep them in line. Also, I don't think the brass one screws into the wood; it looks to me as if it's held in place simply by the strings themselves. Can't say for sure though - I've never seen one in person and I don't think I'm a likely candidate for either the Tru Glide or the String Butler.

---I prefer a String "Man Servant" as apposed to a BUTLER dont you?
