Need some help deciding.

Would def a/b compare..listening to your songs the other day. You got your thing going on & doing it well. What are you searching for tone wise? I just came off the heavies but in last 2 years had most made. I functioned off a DSL100h all modded up (plexi mod.choke, sozo caps/transformer change) i couldn't find the equivalent in the mids no matter what i bought & used 2100 SLX(gave to friend) what a beast & for leads its insane(all tube path on slx) i prefer marshall mid punch to others..especially for the mix in recording & live..speakers matter too. Marshall is hard to beat..what i find out is mesa gets lost in mix..but was not doing chugga ..chugga anymore..

thought real quick again...it was the mid placement when i was a/b ing a rec vs dsl vs irt 60 vs 5150iii vs 6505. the marshall sat out front & seem to place real natural on top off bass..the others for maybe more d tuned..but soon as practice or recording came right back to M..just my personal preference,,have friends using all types, ABR uses Mesa & they always sound killer

MESA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!--- do it------ I dare you----- I double dog dare ya--------\

I TRIPLE DOG DARE YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Seriously though--- listen to both --- I A/B'ed my DSL and the MESA F30 for over week before falling for the MESA -- it took SOME adjusting-- they work in very different ways ---

MY final logic was I could "GET" a MArshall "ish" tone from the MESA ---I could NOT get a MESA tone from the Marshall --for ME the MESA was more versatile

YOur ear may be different --- lord know your haircut is :)

(see where else can you get unhelpful criticism AND beauty tips---) your welcome ;)

also I think the MEsa cost a little more new and holds value "perhaps" a little better on the used market? -- not by a TON -- but a little --if your thinking "flipper" down the road.

Have I mentioned @Hackmaster got me drunk and removeed the part of my brain that likes any other amps BESIDES Mesa???? --- yes well there ya go----

So I'm trying to decide if I should trade my Marshall jvm210h head for a Mesa dual rectifier head. I haven't ever owned a Mesa but I've always wanted one. Any advise would be helpful.

If there is a store close by with Mesa's then go play through one. Just remember that the tone stack is a whole different animal from a Marshall or Fender.
I have the Mini Rec which has the same preamp. I get all the tones I ever dreamed of, but there is a learning curve.

I'm looking for a really thick, tight, heavy sound that cuts through. And the demo was recorded via direct in and used a digitech rp1000

from experience(in my hard rock slightly into metal up to last year) M always cuts..sits right...especially on top of bass..Def go play some if you can. Try & a/b if possible..your jvm has got all the tools for sure & a fantastic amp !!...What speakers ya using ?

Crate blue voodoo 412 cab. Unfortunately it's not the one loaded with v30s

I have had a Dual Rec since around 2002. I still love it. I don’t use it as often as I used to for a couple of reasons, but it’s not leaving any time soon. The couple of reasons: The venues around me will not accommodate a rig that size...it’s just a waste of power for them. I’ve also developed a taste for smaller amps that I can push into power tube distortion more readily.
I gigged out with mine for about 8 years.(the venues that I could get away with using that monster kinda dried up around me)
I have the matching Recto cab.(but sometimes I prefer it through a 1960b, or other cab)
Everything you take for granted in a Marshall tone stack goes out the window with a Dual Rec.
BFT is kinda right about recording with one in a mix...it needs some tweaking from time to time....that’s why I like it through different speaker cab’s sometimes. It can be made to work well in a mix though.

If I had to do it over again, I would give the Mark amps a serious look too.
