First pedal I ever owned:

It initiated me into the world of fuzz/distortion/high gain/noise at an early age, and I have never looked back.

Honorable mention goes to my first Wah pedal.

Korg Pitchblack Poly tuner. It makes life on stage so much better when you're in tune. With the Poly you can strum across all the strings and see what strings are out of tune and by how much flat or sharp. You can check the tuning between songs and no one in the audience knows and even better the rest of the band isn't waiting for you to tune. It's a must for outdoor or hot summer bar gigs with an acoustic or a strat with a free floating trem. With a 12 string it should be required if you play live.
