You'll Seldom Hear Me Attempt Country:

A music friend asked me to sit in with him last night - spur of the moment - and we did a few country numbers. He later sent me the MP3 for my channel. I was playing my 59 Les Paul Replica through my ultra-lightweight Blackstar ID-core 100, direct out into his PA console. I didn't have a chance to even set the controls or do a soundcheck. I just switched the amp to 'Clean Bright' and rolled up the delay and reverb while he was introducing me.

Here's my solo to Merle Haggard's "The Running Kind." It's super intimidating when I am working outside my genre of choice!!!!!

I was raised only being able to listen to country, so it's like Kyrptonite for me...I can play it, eve sing it OK, but it's not my first choice...

taking a good hard look at myself this year.. finally broke out of my limited mental mindset(sorta lol) when i jam on bass..i play octave funk,.dad grew up in city-at young age i was exposed in( 70's)..pick up guitar..i play classic rock, edge of break up...being in first band..80's was metal..so got stuck in that as far as bands..then everybody expects that...dig it..but i am tapped out..hahaha..pun intended..tapped out of palm mutes & speed runs..now..sitting back..in a mix..this next go round,..not getting second guitarist..getting keys..now we can cover some ground...a key player with a right hand only tho.,..lol..stay outta the bass lines..

This was actually 1987...

man..the more i watch you work out somethings .... feel you got a solo situation in ya...on your own as a great opportunity with your skill set. Sometimes a band (we do need to be in bands) is a dif situation...vs doing ones own work. 2 dif approaches in a way. But on your own you can feel free to create & do what ya heart wants. Playing multiple genres is so fun. Are you searching in a way now a lil ?

My goal is to replace my income from the studio gig and no longer have to spend 2-4 hours a day commuting.
