Master Volume via Effect Loop

A question for you amp gurus in the crowd: can I put a volume pot in the effects loop of my Traynor YCV40 to act like a Master Volume control?
If so, what would the value and rating of the pot be? I’m guessing it would be similar to the volume pot of a pedal. Am I somewhere in the right ballpark here?

is this for stage use or bedroom use. I know we went through all of this last year with Robert H. as far as stage use with a Volume pedal. and High vs Low impedance.

yes but...so much goodness can get squashed,,,,i fight for the amp being all it can be on its own. then the guitar..then in middle between ,what is needed to move it to crunch-OD-leads with as minimal manipulation of signal as possible....why have another box of fizz to worry about...setting up your pre tubes can go miles to the amp behavior of when & where & a value change here & there in the circuit..i swear by it.....been thru everything & my amp tech will only install trainwreck 3..PPIMV..to bring DOWN to desired level not start at zero & work up..then you compensate with tone knobs on amp to fill in or take out..all the old heads i know ..this is what they taught me...not trying to do anything but encourage ..from having unlimited time to try everything &. you will never hear me bitching on here about my tone..or my pickups....or my amp..its set...from year 35 marshall tech & 40 year amp builder at my disposal. The Trainwreck 3 will allow you to play at whisper levels & overdrive it like mad..or be as tight as..well..lol

I’m not looking for bedroom volumes here so much as the ability to adjust both clean and OD channel volume at the same time.
I agree that anything in the effects loop that acts like a voltage divider to the signal going to the power section could very well have an impact on the tone. ChasFred mentioned above about ensuring impedance is not affected. That is something I had not considered.
