Funny and sad that Gibson doesn't shield their guitars. A $249.00 Jackson Import comes fully shielded and is dead quiet...Pfffftttt!!!!
 
ME too-- I was asking that question yesterday--- WHY--- I mean really WHY
I have (and have had) MANY brands NON Gibbo-- (now TBTF not ALL were quiet some were insanely noisy) --but from a used 50.00 Grage sale guitar you dont EXPECT much --

THis is what I shielded yesterday the SG in the middle --

2016 SG SPecial -- bone stock ---w/ PCB board--
500-700.00 used---
lovely piece of lumber .....and NOW it is USEABLE --- at any volume---unlike before ---
but why should I have to INVEST a day -- in making it USEABLE?

Shouldn't a GIBSON --- the PREMIER American Guitar Bully CO -- be useable from day 1 --- they could at least PAINT the cavities....

Because....in the 50's, they did it this way...and they still do...and they do it because the purists would bitch about shielding I think....

I just shield all my guitars. I bought a billion feet of conductive adhesive copper tape from Amazon for 10.00. I figure it can't hurt, and I don't have to worry in the future in case I switch to a humbucker size P90 (or whatever). Strats are self explanatory.
