1952 Fender American Vintage Reissue Telecaster...

I found some old photos on my old hard drive of my trusty 1952 Fender AVRI Telecaster guitar. I bought this lovely axe in 2006 which was Fender's 60th anniversary (1946). The same year I bought a Fender Twin Reverb amplifier that was a 60th anniversary model to pair up nicely with my Tele. When I bought it from the music store it took me awhile. There were so many Telecasters hanging on the wall. It was Telecaster Mania! They had some real nice ones with a decorative wood inlay in the body behind the bridge with a 60th anniversary commemoration. They looked nice but I was leaning somewhat towards a less gimmicky guitar. I wanted a straightforward Tele...the original Telecaster/Broadcaster!

This guitar fit the bill nicely. It is all made to 1952 specs. The neck on this is actually quite thin. Some '52 reissues have thicker U-shaped necks. Not this one...it is very comfortable and I love it. I think the body looks great with it's wood grain (Swamp Ash). It has a Bakelite pickguard that is lacquered on the top. The screws are slot-heads for that vintage vibe. The brass bridge saddles and the pick ups are all Tele as Tele can be. The 3-way selector switch is set up '50's vintage-style. In position 1 it's the bridge pick up only. The 2nd position is only the neck pick up. The 3rd position is also the neck pup only but with all the tone rolled off dramatically more than in position 2 with the tone control rolled off. In position 3 the tone control doesn't work except for the volume control in the same position. It's very warm and jazzy sounding. I like it a lot. I figured out how to get both pick ups on at the same time by carefully sliding the switch in between positions 1 & 2 for virtually 4 positions. I love the vintage round-top volume & tone controls compared to some other Tele control knobs that have a much flatter top. The 3-way switch tip is the original round style compared to other Teles with the top-hats. It's twanging time!

My favorite tele color ever, a buddy of mine had an old tele in that same finish, always loved the look!
