Fun road trip.

We went to Boise yesterday with plans to go to the zoo but the parking lot didn't have a single space open so we went and toured the Old Idaho State Penitentiary . I was pretty warm weather but we went early enough that it wasn't to bad. Here is a handful of pics I took. Check out the last one I took. It was of the solitary cells and was nothing more than a dark room with a 12" skytube for light. When I took the picture the room was lit up and this white mist showed up in the shot...strange.

The prison was closed in 1973 because during a riot a couple of inmates burnt the cafeteria down and this is all that remains.

Now check this one out. Again it was dark in the room when we went in and the white mist showed up in the picture when I uploaded them.

The last couple of pics with me and the empty cell is Death Row. I took pics of the Gallows but apparently I deleted them..

The prisoners themselves actually built the prison with material from a rock quarry above the prison. It's called the Boise Bench now and is the rich area of Boise. The prison was a very tough prison with a ton of paranormal activity now days. I was on the hit show Ghost Adventures. The residents of Boise actually rode there horses to the top of the Boise Bench to watch the hanging in the now called Rose Garden in the middle of the prison yard. You can walk through the Rose Garden and get a whole different feeling. Last summer we toured the prison also and the wife got sick to her stomach and we had to leave the tour a bit early. It happened yesterday when we walked through the solitary cells. Pretty damn freaky. It was called the territorial prison and was built in 1870 when we were the Idaho Territory.

This pic I pulled off the web but shows the whole prison. Yard #2 sits behind it but it is a completely different tour put on by another historical program. We are going to go check it out when the weather gets a bit cooler.

Your camera has adjusted for the fact that it was low light. Otherwise it would be a dark rectangle with teh hole in the top. To me that looks like a reflection on the ceiling. Something in that room reflected light up onto the ceiling.

I have worked on 2 prisms here in SoCal, Calpatria, and Delano, and after viewing your outing pics, and from what I recall wandering around in the unfinished buildings we worked on , I am glad for the lifestyle I chose to go through.
Thanks for sharing brother.
Cheers Mitch
