Anybody have low watt tube Fenders ?

Don’t do any recording. One. Not that good. Two. Other than my iPhone, I have nothing to record with. It is a fun little amp. Only 5 watts into an 8” speaker. Breakup comes at a way lower audio level than my 20w Traynor. At the end of the day. The Traynor still sounds better..... just that it’s sweet spot will blow out windows and annoy neighbors.

I have a '71 Deluxe Reverb that I really like. It's a great amp to use live, if there is a good PA. It's clarity and headroom gives it enough oompf to fight the drummer valiantly, but comes up a bit short. Still a great sounding amp. It's one of my "go to" recording amps.IMG_1525.jpg

Yea that may be so , but they can both play like a sum beech !
Cheers Mitch

That's kind of what I get out of my TSA15, I do however want a Blues Jr. to :p

also to add I liked the 15 so much I sold my Blues Deluxe to buy the 30w. But that might be the deal, the BD is probably still running

Does my little Fender Greta count? :rolf:

I love that little amp! Taught me a lot about using guitar controls, and playing dynamics.
The old 2x8 Altec Lansing cab was overkill for the morning coffee/firing up the smoker session that day...I remember being excited about using it, and then eventually unplugging it in favor of the onboard speaker...
I may just have to whip it out in the morning...

Totally agree with you !! I learn more on the couch at nite practicing, listening to the guitar & learning technique ! Good call...volume & distortion can cover a lot of sloppiness

Here’s the thing about the Greta that makes it different from the traditional Fenders...
It does break up....fairly easily....especially with hot pickups....humbuckers, and such...
The Greta sounds like a tube fuzz with the volumes(amp, and guitar) dimed. But roll the guitar volume back, and ease up with the pick(or switch to fingers), and it cleans right up.
Go figure, a regular Strat is perfect for getting everything from crystal clean, to full on fuzz...with the Strat volume knob rolling between 3 and 10.
P90s hold a little grit, unless you palm the pick for cleans.
Humbuckers are hard(but not impossible) to clean up, unless they are really low output.

I have had a few tweed Deluxes over the years that I used primarily for recording. The '54 5C3 I have is a really fat, sweet-sounding amp. I also use an Ampeg GU12 and a Bell and Howell Filmosound in a 30s Kodak cabinet---both are in the 15-20 watt range.

Welcome to the forum
TTR is a great place, don’t know if you posted a thread in
Introductions yet but that way everyone will meet and greet you!
Cheers Mitch
