NAD: Thing 1 & Thing 2

I had a DSL ./..............

Hackmaster made me give it back ........but he gave me a MESA --- so --- Im good with that ---- there was some other minor trade fodder--- or lunch--- or beers--- or wait that was a good restaraunt -- we need to go back to that one.....

anyway

as I was saying ---

I spent m,any days with the 2 beasts DSL/Mesa.....going back and fourth --- A-B-A-B-apple dumpling gang etc--
and....being 100% honest it was a VERY difficult decision --I really like the Marshal DSL series---- but it boiled down to
"I can get another DSL--- my ods of getting a MESA---- slim"
SO I did it...........

however now ----(ALL TOGETHER NOW) "WE KNOW YOU HAVE DOS MESAS" ---- aint life "vierd" as GM would say ??????????????

HAD I known.........I coulda kept the DSL and I would now have a DSL and A MEsa......but......(No Hack your not getting the MEsa back ;) )
LOL

now Robbie has DOS MARSHAL poor favorie ---that is please in French or some language ......I dont know--

what was this thread about???

oh yes Robert got a new amp--

NICE!!!! Cheers man hook em up in STEREO and crank some PINK FLOYD
i think for the first time ever.. been taking the vocals into account as the "must have" right...my eyes have lead me astray as far a gear..now its literally..what amp & guitar fit the song...live work...think i have the secret weapon to pull it all off live in 1 rig.. The Marshall Vintage Modern 2266 kt 66..it can run fenderish..then plexish & then boosted thump..& its purple !!! But last year it was DSL ...next year could be a downtuned Ukulele into Dumble..who knows...lol

Clips Clips Clips, you know

The Blackstar???

We actually used it (the little Blackstar ID-Core 100 watt) direct out into Pro Tools 12.8 on a recent studio project for hire....It sounds MONSTROUS!!!!

Here is a version of "RATS'!!!" By Ghost B.C., on which I laid down all the rhythm guitar tracks with my 2016 Gibson Les Paul and my Blackstar ID-Core 100. This is post-mixdown with all effects added at the console, along with volume drops and increases as deemed appropriate by the producer.

Nice I dig the heavy guitars!

My DSL40C "On Tape" so to speak....

Here is my 2016 Gibson Les Paul through my primary DSL40C. This was running the Weber Mass Lite 100 Attenuator to enable running a 'direct out' to my DAW, since the DSL's have no D.I. Output. No effects or pedals were used. Reverb and delay were added in Audacity at mixdown. This is one of my home studio productions.

Fork yea Lemmy sings the immigrant song

We are equally ridiculous here, but we get along like gentlemen.

Very cool, the past couple days I have found the magic I remembered from my DSL50H in my 20H. Hit that biotch with a Treble Booster!

I have been reading horror stories about both the 20 & 40 DSL's on the Marshall forums and I have to just shake my head because I have none of the issues they have, no extra noise and the little bit of noise that was there to me sounded exactly like every other tube amp I have owned. But maybe my tubes broke in or something because that has even gone away? So I read those and shake my head and wonder if they are doing it wrong :p

Brother believe it or not I seem to think user error.
But they all talk as though they were experts on the subject?
Cheers Mitch

My honest opinion is that some of them either haven't owned a tube amp before or some of them want a $2000 1987x or Friedman for the $3-500 you can score these for. I am sure there are some issues but some of the complaints I hear leave me wondering and I am no tech expert and a complete hack but I have tried a bunch of stuff out finding what I like and don't like.

my DSL kicked my Friedman up & down the street. & out the door..never again for me. The Runt was good..,,but not in the Marshalll mid ..in recording it double compresses vs marshall recording better than anything..(vol up for best results) somethings just are standards & Marshall is one of em ..DSL is technically a hot plexi-800ish-900ish..its a giggers dream for hard rock on up...to knock a DSL..its hard to do..i always had an open invitation...bring what ya got over...will use DSL on my 1960bv cab..no pedals....what genre ya wanna play ? mine has done clean jazz gigs to metal meltdowns..

Good observations!!! I installed a 12AU7 in V1 and a 5751 in V4, then added a TS-9 to tighten up the palm muted passages and used a WGS 55Hz 50 Watt Reaper...
