50's vs. Modern Wiring

I don't think you have it backwards Wav, I have the 50's wiring on both my SG & LP. The controls are interactive, to a degree. I don't find it to be anything major. However, 50's wiring is only of benefit if you use the controls. If you play with everything on 10 it sounds no different. Cheers

I got a bunch of work done on my client's web site over the past couple of days. I will be replacing the brakes on my car this weekend and hopefully I'll have enough time to melt some metal.

Where's Biddie when I need him?
Here, I am not much help. I do use my controls while playing, and while my impulse is to say that I prefer modern wiring, I have no strong feelings one way or the other. I also use Kerry's guitar vol down amp vol up to get blooze sounds and 50s wiring probably makes that happen a little better. Frankly, I'm always thrilled if my pickups work after I've pieced the wires together and when the tone and volume pots work too, I declare victory and crack open a Carta Blanca.

Are you just changing pads on the front?
I hate doing breaks. If I had a lift, it would be different im sure. I like doing maintenance on things, but id be happy if I never had to rip apart my breaks again. Yuk:eek:

My 50's wiring in my new Spectre guitar is driving me crazy! I got it all in yesterday and when I finished the bridge pickup didn't work! So today i completely gutted the thing and started over. Did a real sweet job and still no Bridge pup??? So I swapped out the pup...still no bridge??? So I started taking continuity readings and found that on the neck pup the tabs on the volume pot that have the pup wire and the one that has the switch wire had continuity but the bridge volume pot was constant open through it's range...I guess it's a bad pot.
