I have tried to take out a dog once when I was a paper boy, on a Honda SL 350, that fnng dog had bit me about 4 times and always ran loose. I didn’t even knock the wind out of him, but I caught his rib cage with the front wheel

I always carried a side arm while hunting, just in case something came out of the Swamp n tree’d ya buttz and yah happened to drop yah rifle in the scuffle up dah tree...

I often considered carrying when I am bow hunting. The shotgun or rifle seemed enough protection from danger while hunting with them. Not as fast of a tool for defense as a side arm, but the long guns beat a bow if the need arises.
