Ignore button for a particular room ?

I didn't mean to sound rude or anything, it's just that come on, man...

This is an internet forum. Some of them don't even have the "new post page" option.

You browse the rooms that interest you.

Anyway, that's what I do in most forums.

More importantly, do they have emergency exits?

I'm kind of with @BGood, though. An ignore option for whole rooms is not necessary, but it would be a good feature to have.
 
So would an option that put a thousand dollars in your bank account
every time you logged in but I don't think that's gonna happen either.

Sorry I only have that set up for my account. The more y'all visit the site, the more my bank account goes up. Oh wait a minute... That is the other site.
 
I browse by selecting the New Posts option as well, so I see the point. But if I start reading something going down a road that I dont want to or doesnt interest me, I just hit the New Posts button again, like it never happened.

I agree an ignore function of that sort could be useful, but am reminded the site admins do this as a hobby and change to the site requires their time.

But, it certainly doesnt hurt to ask and get some feedback.

There is an add-on that can be purchased that will do this :


This add-on adds the ability for users to ignore threads and forums.

Individual threads and forums can be ignored on:
*New posts page
*News feed
*Forum list/thread list

Users can access a list of all their ignored threads/forums and easily change ignore settings from that page.

Admins can change the position of 'Ignored Threads' and 'Ignored Forums' in the Ignore More Options as well as choose to enable 'Show Ignored Content' on new posts - adding a link to the bottom of the New Posts page allowing ignored posts to be shown.

Allows individual threads to be ignored in multiple views
Access list of all ignored forums/threads in one place
Easily changeable ignore settings all located in one place
 
Just to let you all know, every time a 3rd party plugin is added to the original software it increases the chance of problems. Problems with conflicting 3rd party software, problems with software upgrades not being compatible not to mention users needing support on how to use the extra features. There is a beta version of this Xenforo software currently being tested (not here) and a new release version will soon be available. I do plan on upgrading to the latest version when it's available and stable. This means that I'll have to test all of the 3rd party extra software that I have already installed here, plus the theme software. After the upgrades have been made we can consider this if there is enough interest by the membership here.
 
Actually I was thinking about this on the way to work this morning and I have decided to not add this feature. Why? There are a few rooms here that I don't have a great deal of interest in. For example the crash boom bang room. I don't play drums and only check in to take a peek because I'm an admin here and this is part of my responsibility to keep an eye on things here. Same goes for the BASSment. Although I don't have a great interest in these topics currently, they were placed here for those members that do have an interest in this subject matter. I have a built in ignore feature for these rooms and it works like this. I don't go in there. This built in feature works great for me. On another forum I have a couple of members on my ignore list. I don't ignore anyone here because once again as an admin, I really need to see what's going on here. however this ignore feature is installed here and works perfectly. If y'all don't want to read posts by a specific member, you can add that member to your ignore list, piece of cake. If y'all don't want to read posts from a specific category, don't click on the link to that category. When I am in a public building and I pass by the women's restroom, I know I don't wanna go in there, but I don't ask the management to cover the sign so I don't have to see it.

So far my pay has been seeing y'all enjoy this place and contribute your wisdom and experience. Hopefully some of y'all may like the work that you have seen me do here and contract my services to build a web site for your band!
