Saw maston on Saturday.
It was a good show.
Line up was Every time I die, mastadon, coheed and cambria.
Mcblink and I started our day with a sit in guitar lesson with Bill kelleher. I picked up a couple of warmup runs from this. Really a nice down to earth guy as were the rest of the band. There was a total fan boy (down to the shoes in this lesson. The this fan boy asked how to play a mastodon song and Bill said it's been a long time for this one let me fumble my way through a minute. Made me happy to see a pro fumble helps you realize that they are also mortal. Anyhow the kid that asked how to play this riff finally says well this is how I play it, Bill just kinda rolled his eyes.
Next we go to the meet and greet to visit with the other members and get photos with them. Like I said these ar real down to earth dudes and I'd love to do this again.
So my buddy comes up during the meet and greet as mcblink and I are talking to Bill and asks about the Lars story of putting his tally wacker in Lars pocket. Bill gets this look of man I thought everyone forgot. Then he said (yes but it was to small) at the same time mcblink and I said (what his pocket) got a laugh out of that one. I dont think he'll forget us now.
Then we moved on to the show. Was a good show. Every time I die was a band that I'd never heard of and will now have to look into more of. Then mastodon came up and there was a little issue with the volume on Brent Hinds side of thing but they play through like nothing was wrong till sound guy corrected the problem. Bill was trying hard to get a pic to me but just couldn't land it, hell I could have just asked for one earlier. Lesson learned. Then coheed came on and not to bad of show. I'd hear some of their stuff before but struggled with the higher end on vocals, it just has a feminine tone to it. I'm going to give them another chance.
