Bass
Day!

Yes!
For the measly sum of $72.98(shipped to my door), I’ve managed to acquire a brand new “J style” bass!
How crazy is that?
It arrived almost in tune, and looks to be in good condition after its journey from Kalifornia(and before that, I’m sure, Asia).
Who knows what this thing is made of...maybe some wood...but what kind?...I have no idea. It’s wicked light.
The neck appears to be maple...possibly...quite raw feeling.
The fretboard appears to want to be rosewood-ish, but it’s really weird....like laminated strips...lengthwise...never seen anything like it on a fretboard....the neck on my Martin acoustic, yes.
Don’t know what the body wood is, but it looks...kinda cool to me...
The tuners work...so far....pretty well.
The intonation was within 3 cents on each string, upon arrival.
The electronics all seem to work to expectations.
The bridge pickup needed to be adjusted, upward. Once that was done, the pickups functioned better than I had expected.
Each single coil pickup hums when soloed, but the noise cancels out when at near equal volumes.(more than I expected)
The action, out of the box, is in the realm of ok. I haven’t really looked at it closely enough, but the nut could probably have been cut a shade lower...at least for the E string....I feel like it pulls just a little sharp on first fret....but second and beyond are fine.
I expected to like it much less....but.....if this had been my first bass, I would probably have enjoyed it thoroughly.
I think I will see how it ages a bit.
Anywho.....full reveal.....it’s a “Glarry” bass!
Cheap as dirt. Seems completely playable.
I’m pleasantly surprised.
