Yes!
For the measly sum of $72.98(shipped to my door), I’ve managed to acquire a brand new “J style” bass!
How crazy is that?
It arrived almost in tune, and looks to be in good condition after its journey from Kalifornia(and before that, I’m sure, Asia).
Who knows what this thing is made of...maybe some wood...but what kind?...I have no idea. It’s wicked light.
The neck appears to be maple...possibly...quite raw feeling.
The fretboard appears to want to be rosewood-ish, but it’s really weird....like laminated strips...lengthwise...never seen anything like it on a fretboard....the neck on my Martin acoustic, yes.
Don’t know what the body wood is, but it looks...kinda cool to me...
The tuners work...so far....pretty well.
The intonation was within 3 cents on each string, upon arrival.
The electronics all seem to work to expectations.
The bridge pickup needed to be adjusted, upward. Once that was done, the pickups functioned better than I had expected.
Each single coil pickup hums when soloed, but the noise cancels out when at near equal volumes.(more than I expected)
The action, out of the box, is in the realm of ok. I haven’t really looked at it closely enough, but the nut could probably have been cut a shade lower...at least for the E string....I feel like it pulls just a little sharp on first fret....but second and beyond are fine.
I expected to like it much less....but.....if this had been my first bass, I would probably have enjoyed it thoroughly.
I think I will see how it ages a bit.
Anywho.....full reveal.....it’s a “Glarry” bass!
Cheap as dirt. Seems completely playable.
I’m pleasantly surprised.

There’s a thread about them on that big old bass forum...I’ve been resisting them for a while, and every time I was feeling weak...they were out of stock....until last week.
Is it as nice as my other bass guitars? Hell no.
Is it as nice, or better, than my first bass? Hell yes.
I don’t gig as a bassist at the moment, but I’d probably gig this for a giggle if I did.
It’s actually fairly nice, playability wise, out of the box. With a little set up work, and maybe some decent strings, it might be a pretty good player....did I mention that it’s wicked light?!?!

Nice find !
Thanks!

I suppose I could post a link to the place I got it:

They have a P style too...available in a natural finish sometimes. I really liked that.

They whacked me $2.99 for “insurance”.

I went down to play it again tonight. I can say that I still like it a lot. The low E nut slot thing didn’t seem so bad after a bit of play this evening. I am pleasantly surprised with the pickups, in particular. I figured they’d be thin and wimpy at this price point...but they’re really quite usable.
I played some random riffs in to a looper, and grabbed a guitar to play along....it sits pretty well.
I’ve played the whole neck now, and have found no major fault with the fretwork yet. We’ll see what happens as I dial the action down. Gotta measure the fretboard radius, and get my bearings.
I’ve got nothin really bad to say about it at this juncture. I’ll set it up to suit me over the next couple of weeks, and bounce between the Glarry, and my other basses to see how it goes.
In summary, after a couple of short sessions with this sub-$75 bass...this is a great beater. It’s a pleasure to play, and sounds ok to boot. I hope it holds up.

What kind of amp are you using the bass thru?

Can you play them thru a reg amp without any issues?
I’ve been using my TC Electronic BH-250 in to a couple of Peavey bass cabs.
I also have a couple of old Kustom heads to play bass or guitar through. One of my favorite little rigs for bass is my Tiny Terror head through a 1X15 bass cab...works great for the stoner stuff.
