I don't give it much thought. I change strings a lot, so I just fit it in wherever...sometimes I put the guitar on the kitchen counter, sometime just sitting on the couch with it next to me, sometimes sitting in a chair. I feel an need for special equipment to do it since I do it so often.

Yea, I use my rest for other work and not string changes. I just hold my guitar in my lap or stand it on the floor when I do that...

Same here. I never even thought about a special rest for restringing. I pretty much just change it where I know I won't ding it as I move it around. Like, I may sit on a carpeted floor, or on my bed, or whatever...with the guitar in my lap.
