Mission Engineering makes a kit to turn the DSL40C into a head.

I need to get another DSL40C....

Make it into a head and turn the cab into a 1x12 for rehearsals...

Would the DSL40C reliably drive my 200 watt Jackson 4x12???

It has different ohm ratings printed on the back depending on whether or not you are going stereo or mono...

What ohms rating would be easiest on the amp when pushing it hard???

Use whatever rating the head is designed to use. For example, if the head is designed to drive 8 ohms, make sure your cabinet is built to that impedance. That is the safest thing to do.

It's got both ohm's ratings (the 200watt Jackson cabinets)

The DSL40C has both a 16 and 8 ohm 1/4" jack on the back.

I have to believe that as long as you match ohm’s you are good to go, no difference in 8/16 ohm’s and running hard, it’s when you mismatch and push the amp it has problems.

Never tried the F30 - ;)

--its o.k. Bobby Boy -- the world NEEDS MARSHALL as well ---- (peavey) I mean Marshalls (Peavey) -- you really need a Bandit 112 ---(I mean MARSHALL) ----
shut up----stop it --- you stop it ----

we will need a minute------------

Well, this coming Saturday, we are going to try and capture a feed from my DSL40C so I can post it...

I am in no way trying to get anyone to do this!!! But since my 2 dsl40c’s where new I have been running them in a ohm’s impedance mismatch, an 8ohm cab (mg412) and the internal 16 ohm’s, mind you they are mostly played at low volume, but I have pushed them as well, and in 3 years I have only had 3 tubes go boink. EL 34’s and I still believe I am getting excellent tone . So What I am saying is these baby’s are potent, and reliable. Cheers Mitch

I'd suggest NO ONE do that. Your output transformer is seeing a 5.33 ohm load. Recipe for disaster, regardless of volume.

That may well be true but wouldn’t I hear something?

In general, what I think you hear with a bad OT is silence on the day it finally dies. Running at way-too-low-impedance also stresses the rest of the output stage of the amp - you mentioned some output tubes going on you, and that's unusual for such a young amplifier. If I was you I'd have the amp checked by a good tech before using it much more, just to make sure no serious damage has been done.

I most certainly will and my first stock tube that went bad was noisy, so I replaced the pair, after about 11/2 years the second set was getting noisy so I replaced them as well, one of the others lost a preamp tube and I located the bad one and replaced it, that amp is the one I gave my grandson, so in 4 years we have lost 4 tubes total on 4 amps 2 of them(both purchased used) have never had a single issue.
