Malcolm Young's Amp Settings

Here is the REALLY weird thing -----

I have STAND OUT TONE------ GO STAND OUT IN A FIELD --tone :)

I sound...................

like ME--- I dont know that anyone else likes it (the dogs seem to tolerate it) but -- as I dont have to impress anyone -- or cater to others needs (band members-- fans--audiences) Im quite happy with that ----

its totally unique--- HORRIBLY original -- and originally HORRIBLE--- and I dont have to EVER worry that decades from now pedal manufacturers will be STEALING MY TONE ---- and MIMICKING my subtle nuances ----- because there arent any :)

ITs truly a relief and a burden lightened not to have to stress over that

BUWAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHA-- ha

I have a confession to make: I don't understand why there is so much flap about the Young Brothers' tone 'secrets' with players. I mean, their sound is fine, but in my brain's catalog of guitar sounds they come up somewhere around Generic Hard Rock Tone, which is a sound I hear drenched all over recordings from the mid-70's to mid-80's. Meaning, I don't hear anything particularly unique or special about their sound, and I can't figure out why so many people seem enthralled with it to the point of chasing it. Can anyone enlighten me?

I think that's just it, it's a simple raw tone good for a bluesy rock sound that with a twist of the volume knob goes cleaner to meaner. I think IMO the thing people are chasing is the tube compression & sustain he gets but you have to crank your amps for that or have something else try and make up for that aspect. People think it's the wireless system, sure it has an affect on it but as stated they push different voltages and amp heads out all the time because of needing repairs but "the hard core chasers" don't mention they sounded like AC/DC before the wireless system & power supplies. It will never be perfect or exactly the same unless you are sitting there with the exact same gear or the actual gear itself. It will only be close enough. That's my theory anyway even though we keep trying new stuff :flame:

I definitely agree. Their tone sounds exactly like what it is to me: humbuckers into a dimed Marshall. Nothing more, nothing less. Nothing to dislike but nothing to tighten your pants over either.

For some people like me that's what I like but I can't crank 50 or 100w Marshall's in my house so I can only get close enough.
