Hello Everyone,
I'm currently living in a suburb outside Atlanta and I'm 58
I began playing the guitar at about age 18 . . . played off and on for a couple of years then quit for about 15 years - started again when I was about 40 and dabbled a little bit here and there and then .it happened - about a year and a half ago I started getting serious with guitar and I'm ecstatic to admit to the entire world: I'm totally addicted
I only play about - oh I dunno - maybe a total of 8 hours a week and by most people's standard, I totally suck but I believe I have more fun than virtually everyone when I play the guitar
I play 98% of songs I have written - my wife likes my music - pretty much, she's the only one
I mostly play blues - blues rock - and mellow jazz.
I also play OFDM (old folks death metal - it's just metal at a slower pace that still carries the metal vibe)
I have had some really nice guitars over the years - my gone but not forgotten favorites were a Jackson RR1 and an Epiphone Dot but now my favorites include my Ibanez Sam Totman signature (I modified the tremolo to be fixed), and my SG faded.
Recently I began realizing I want to spend less time working and more time playing the guitar. I teach (non music stuff) at the local university which gives me a flexible schedule. My favorite axe-toys are my ME-80 and my Ditto looper - oh and my beloved PX-3 which I've had for many years - still love it and use it almost daily.
My current axe collection also includes an Ibanez AM53, a Dean Vendetta XM, and a Squire Tele that's seen more abuse than a cute young tranny in max security prison.
I'm looking forward to meeting everyone and hopefully I'll contribute in positive ways.
Thank you,
RS
