Cheap Amp Good Tubes

but many "not cheap" amps are built in CHina or Vietnam or Korea -- so whats the diff really?

vox ac 30--- CHina
Marshalkl DSL's and origins Vietnam

these are 6-700.00 amps-- thats NOT cheap in my book---

To be fare to the amp posted we could go Vox AC4 TV --
Marshall DSl 1

again amps costing a good bit MORE made in the same place -----

of course you could go Fender Champ (I think still made in USA) for 999.00 .......thats a LOT of scratch -- for most "hobbyists" to fork out for 2 knobs and an 8" speaker ......

I think we can all understand and accept that this thing is not built to the same level of quality as a less expensive Vox/Marshall amp, whether solid state or tube. Those are not "cheap" but let's face it, they are price-point amplifiers and we can't fool ourselves into thinking they sound, perform or will last like something built in the UK or US. Anyone that wants to convince themselves that they are the same quality is happy to do so, but it's a form of cognitive dissonance.

With cheap guitars, fine, the wood will last. But if the first thing I need to do to a new guitar is gut it, replace all the electronics and hardware and then tweak the frets to get it to be serviceable...no thanks. I'll leave that to those that believe that such a practice is a "bargain" and stick to things that are pro-level out of the box and will retain their value over the years.

and this is why there are pros--- and there are hobbyists -- 50.00 Squires and 1900.00 USA Fenders :)

There is definitely a place for all gear at all price points. What I grow weary of is the internet warriors like the dude in the video continually trying to convince everyone that there is no difference. I've owned a lot of cheaper gear and a few nicer pieces and its pretty obvious this is fallacy in the real world.

I don't buy a guitar to have it increase in value . I buy my guitars to play, to me each their own. Whether you have a $50 dollar guitar or $3,000 guitar to me it makes no difference as long as it gets played rather than sit in a case. I can't for the life of me seeing a guitar that sits in a case hoping the value goes up to make money I.M.H.O.

I only buy em to play em. The fact that some do increase in value (to be fair only two of mine have since I bought them) is incidental and not the reason I purchase them. But...it's nice to know that you aren't dumping 60/70 percent of the value just by walking out of the store with it.
