Cleared Out Some Gear at GC Today

I became increasingly disgusted with responses I received from CL this week. People wanting me to drive all the way to Austin from SW San Antonio, just to "try" what I was selling. I decided to go the GC route, and came away without such a painful loss. $730 for the following: DSL100 bought used for $400, Vox 5w AC4, Ampeg Micro Stack bass amp, and the DSL15c. All together, I probably spent about $1300 acquiring those items, and was expecting about 50% of value.

I didn't buy them to turn a profit, and I certainly got some good use out of them. I can dig it.

Now go buy some gold, your money will bounce back.

I see you guys are paying mucho in taxes. I just saw on the news that all blue democrat states are hit with higher taxes , due to Mr. Trump being behind this increase.

To be honest, that’s a little bit of an oversimplification on the part of the reporting. The people who are feeling the pinch the most are those who live in states that already had high taxes. This is because we are able to deduct taxes paid to our state and localities from our gross income, thus, lowering our federal income taxes; however, the new tax law capped deductions for state and local taxes at $10,000.00. So, those who live in high tax states (myself included), aren’t able to deduct the full value of our state and local taxes. This hurt me in that I actually paid nearly $2000.00 more in state and local taxes than I was allowed to deduct this year.

Where the “blue state” thing gets people’s attention is that most high-tax states in the US also happen to be blue states. The tax law doesn’t specifically “hit” people in blue states with higher taxes. It does affect us more, though.

But, the argument could be made that the real fault lies with the states and localities themselves! It could be argued that the state legislatures and local jurisdictions took advantage of the fact that we used to be able to deduct all our state and local taxes and used that fact to partially rationalize increasing the taxes on their own residents! Now, states and localities will have to consider more of the impact on residents before increasing taxes.

The cap on state and local tax deductions also impacts wealthier people even in low tax states because our property taxes are based on property values. A person who has bought a really expensive home with the thought of avoiding some amount of federal income tax because of the deduction will now pay more federal income tax because of the cap. Lower income people in those states will not feel the cap as much because their overall state and local tax burden likely doesn’t meet the cap.

Well, TAX day is Political.

All I know is, I don't have any money to pay any taxes, Let alone when Mr Obama wanted me to buy Obamacare or pay a fine.
All taxes go to political reasons, and most of them get squandered away to barely get used to benefit anyone except politician's salaries, special interest groups and waste. I have no problem paying for stuff like, schools, roads and police and trash disposal, but all that other stuff is but organized thievery.

Now, as for GC sales,,,,,,,,,, I have bought a used Am STD 1990 Strat from GC and Mt SG and TS9 pedal from Music Go Round. Sold 1 amp to Music Go Round for about $325.
Glad you got some peace of mind Goldie, sorry the $$$$ are basically gone already.

Here's another thing to dig about my GC experience: I arrived just after opening on a Sunday and was greeted by three sales staff members, which has
never happened before. The entire transaction took only 30 minutes; last time I did this, it took almost two hours!
I left impressed with the changes.

Oh...by the way...just another thing to ruin everyone’s evening... if you expect to owe more than $1000.00 in taxes at the end of next year...you are supposed to make estimated quarterly payments...even for individuals.

The first quarterly payment is due...TODAY!

I just sent another $500.00 to the Revenuers this evening to prepare for next year.

That coulda gone toward an amplifier!
