JP's Richie Faulkner Tells Joe B Off...

Dunno-- but Id like to go on Guitar Safari with him --just once--

Spoilt -- no-- OVER COMMERCIALIZED MARKETING MACHINE yes.............which I used to hate about him -- however once I leanred he is SELLING all that schwag and weirdo guitar pins-- and custom amps and decals and t-shirts---- to USE THE MONEY TO BUY MORE GEAR-- I felt I understood him on a molecular level--- :)

The way I see it is that people say Joe is a nice guy & all that & I'm not arguing that. The guy makes a lot of money through endorsements and buys a lot of guitars so he can show off to other people while he smirks. I have a sense that he has turned from humble to quite being full of himself...but in a humble way if that makes sense. The guy has it made so he shouldn't complain at all.

I happen to agree with Richie 100%. At least Mr. Faulkner can really shred on guitar and just be himself. Joe Bonamassa on the other hand tries to come off acting like a black man which is a sacrilege...then he tries to act like a Metal God. Give me a break!

To me, anyone that can bring the kind of exposure to guitar-based music that these guys can, both of them, deserves nothing but our admiration and support. Taking shots at either of them, whether you like their music or not, just makes no sense to me, particularly shots of the ad hominem variety. If we want to start judging people by what we perceive as character flaws then not a single person out there is going to pass muster if you dig deep enough, so why don't we just all support them for keeping it alive and making a lot of people happy in the process.

With Joe B in particular I have noticed over the years that the guitar playing world just wants to tear him down. Why? WTF? Are players just jealous (that's how it mostly comes off)?
The dude sells out arenas all over the World, makes millions of people (I guess none of them play guitar) happy with his music and lives a dream we probably all wanted at some point in our lives, or we wouldn't be here. Why the hate?

There's no real hate from me and I agree with what you posted. You might be missing my point and I was being sarcastically funny in my previous post. Joe can definitely play guitar. I may not be a big fan of his music but that's just my opinion. I just think he should be more grateful for what he's got and not go off on a tangent on something that's so trivial. He should remember that there are others less fortunate than him who struggle daily to survive. He should show more restraint & class and be an example of turning the other cheek...diplomacy.:)

God bless Joe. I'd love to have his job....and I'd still have only three guitars.

I want to build a community center down here.....

I think it is a good idea NEVER to judge ANYONE based on a few tweets, Facebook posts or Instagram pics.

I have never understood the hate Joe B. receives. Maybe he was a bit too quick to respond in this case, but I can't bring myself to judge him for it. Like his music or not, he is a great guitar player. Like his marketing strategies or not, he is obviously a very competent businessman. As a person, he strikes me as very nice and humble. Everyone I have heard talk about him (people who actually KNOW him, that is) says he is a very sweet, down to earth guy. He collects vintage instruments, but he shares them with people by actually playing them on stage and showing them at guitar conventions etc. He repeatedly speaks of how fortunate he is to be in the position he is. I simply do not get why people dislike him as a person, without ever even having met the guy. For all I know he might actually be a d**k, but I highly doubt it.

And if he "slips up" and says something he shouldn't have in SoMe, can you really blame him? Think of all the crap he has to take from haters! I say a lot of people are really envious of him. I sure would like to have just a couple of the amps and guitars he has, but I'll never be able to afford it unless I win the lottery. But he has worked for it, so what's the problem? At least he is not just keeping all the money to himself, he's putting it into circulation by buying and selling stuff. In that respect he is like a multi-million dollar version of eSGEe.:D

Btw., I completely agree with Joe when he comments on the "bulls**t number system". I don't get the need people have for constant ratings on art, culture, etc. It is not a competition. People need to listen, watch and make up their own minds, not look at numbers to learn how good anything is. But he should probably kept his mouth shut, simply to avoid the criticism.
