Marshall DSL40C Package:

So, I prefer buying a replacement amp brand new under warranty as opposed to buying a vintage amp. Yes, it costs more, but it just seems like less of a headache.

I an leaning towards more simple amps, without banks and banks of on board effects, definitely a 2x10 or 2x12 combo, with adequate gain (requiring no pedals) built-in reverb, and effects loop.

So, with my goal in mind of twin speaker combos, weighing around 40 pounds, with built in gain channel, reverb and effects loop, the field is becoming more narrow.

The Blackstar ID260TVP is at the higher end of the weight spectrum at 48 pounds - but still less than the DSL40C's 67 pounds or the VS265's 72 pounds.

It does have programmable onboard effects, which seems to be OK on my DAW's dedicated ID-Core 100, and would eliminate a full pedalboard, and it allows switching between 6 or 7 different tube emulators.

So, this would be one to check out more closely in person.

Next and probably closest to meeting all my requirements is the LaneyLX120RT. With dimensions of 17.83" x 26.53" x 10.74 and weight at only 41.0 lbs, it would be easy to transport, but would require a full pedalboard for effects.

Next on the list is the Roland JC-40. At just 35 pounds, it's in the lead in terms of portability. Built in chorus is second to none, but gain capability would have to be evaluated in person.

Anyways, those are the 3 I am mulling over at present...

I've never been able to really be happy with the sound of an amp using an attenuator. Can't figure it out. I should sell mine.
