"valve"? ... :cautious:

I was playing with irony, but forgot that British humour of this sort gets lost somewhere in the Atlantic Ocean... Glad you spotted it, Sysco because the comment was a compliment to SS amps. The THR, ss, is very good; hence ss can be very good. The humour was especially fantastic due to it being juxtaposed against the first statement/sentence.

I'll be moving on then...
(Edit to add: just a British phrase to mean moving on from the "scene of the crime" - maybe the same in other parts of the native English speaking world, not sure...)

I have always loved this amp. It sounds fantastic. I just got testy with tubes...ba dump dump, pshhhh!

If you listen to all my sound clips, everything was recorded on a Blackstar ID-Core 100 watt 2X10 direct out. That amp is dedicated to my DAW - I use it for nothing else - and it just has the best sound. It absolutely kills the Marshall on a recording...

Baby, please don't go...

Apparently my grasp of that British humour also got lost in the Pacific Ocean, too, since I'm right next to it. I've been grumped by Mr Grumpy...

But yeah, the Yamaha THR10 has been a fantastic little-amp-that-could. Very easy to find a combination of wonderful tones that brings on a good playing vibe for me. I wish I would take more time and really explore it's software through the PC. I'm sure there's a lot more magic to discover in there. Glad you're enjoying yours.

Funnily enough, I am looking at a slightly bigger ss amp now, so when a mate pops around we can jam a little bit, and I just want some other sounds...

The VOX AV30 could be the go; just researching now. I have also been looking at Peaveys due to the liking on here, but they are very expensive in Korea and Thomann (which is good to buy from because the amps have the same plugs/voltage as Korea - can't buy from the US).

I will throw this out Grump---

Im not overlay FOND of the NEW Peaveys---I had a Modeling amp combo and a piranha mini head....they were "o.k."

the old USA made Stuff.....I LOVE VERY MUCH-- the new amps -- I dont have MUCH experience with but from what I hear among Peavey Nerds they just aint the same--

So perhaps this helps your deciding?

So, the Marshall Code 25, VOX AV15, VOX AV30 are in the running against a Thomann cab with vintage 30 12" and maybe a little head of some sort like the Joyo Zombie for that Messa(ish) sound. Have you had experience of any of these? The VOX AV15 has an 8" speaker which I kinda want to avoid because I want at least a 10" to give a bit more space (a different sound to the THR10).

Well I posted the question on TGP tech section & this is what came back..
I looked at the schematic diagram for that amp and the 12AX7 tube filaments and the "power on" LED run off of the same DC power supply feed...so a bad/intermittent 12AX7 might be causing your problem. So, you could try replacing all the 12AX7 tubes to see if that helps.

Beyond that, if replacing those tubes doesn't help, the filament DC power supply and the primary AC wiring & thermistor will need checked by someone who knows how to do that. The joys of tube amps!
So this morning when I got back from the oil rig I swapped them and still a no go. I am a sad man this morning, just got a dual BJFE Fuzz Clone (Arctic & Pink Purple) in the mail this morning & 1/2 my rig is down :(

KILL THE CODE--- hated it-- returned 2 of them neither worked right the software interface with the cell phone was crap---hands down NO (and I love marshalls) just not THAT Marshall.
VOX AV......well I just SOLD its precurser the VOX AD 20 VT+ nice amp but....... it was "meh"
I currently have a BASS version of the NUTUBE tech
VoxBA50 --- again its "nice" but it gets its A$$ handed to it by my 8 year old 60 watt Hartke bass amp -- like BADLY -- spanked red and put in the corner---bad

Its a fine little bass amp for VERY low volume---

Of the choices you launched

the THoman/JOYO would be my pick --- been meaning to try one of them JOYO heads---if I could SELL the VOX or my Panama I just MIGHT!!! lol

Going to give it a whirl in a bit but I like the clips of the originals I have heard and supposedly this guy uses the same parts they use so hoping it's close & have 2 in 1 box is always nice :)

They are an excellent builder - I had one of their pedals and it was fantastic in all respects.

Grumpy Betty.

I still don't get the humor/irony about valve. Also not sure about the lost in Atlantic Ocean part. If I am discussing amos with DonP or IvanH or u or Bea, I will 99% of the time call those glass things, Valves. If I pow wow with Smitty, or VoxAC30 or RVA, DonO or Wav, I will switch to Tubes.

Now the million $ question I never can keep straight. If one turns the Standby switch " On" is it ON when in Standby, or is it on when the AMP is ON PLAY mode,,,,,,,,,,,,, as in it will make SOUND?

My Logic tells me, Standby is ON when AMP sound needs to be off. Standby is OFF when AMP sound comes ON

If the power tubes are cooking it's on in my book....unfortunately for me all I can do is cook tubes in my TSA30 :(

It's all very confusing, that's for sure...

Now, I wonder how Rob's new BearFoot pedal is working for him.
I love the Pink Purple Fuzz side, the Arctic side is nice but I prefer the Pink Purple Fuzz I think. It's still upsetting because I only have 1/2 my rig running so no stereo sound like I am use to & love :(
