Well I just finished a 2hr practice, but before I started I went to hook up with my Strat, when my strap came apart from the locking bracket, thank goodness I had a good grip on the neck, was able to keep it from hitting the concrete floor. I usually try to keep a hand grip on the guitar just in case . Well tonight it was a good thing I did. Here's a couple of pics where you can see this piece of plastic came away from the bracket. I have had the strap I believe around 1 year. I would not recommend this strap as of now because of this happening. Its a D'Addario product,DSC00247.JPG DSC00250.JPG and I have other straps that have been very good and I have other products which they make which I am very happy with. So I am not criticizing the company. I will contact them and go from there.

Dunlop’s for me on each of my electrics. They seem plenty solid. 100 years ago I did have my Ovation acoustic make it to the floor. Cheap strap. Got a good leather one and haven’t had a problem since. I also seldom take hands off when playing standing.

Glad you avoided disaster.

All my guitars get a custom made, non-adjustable leather strap...

I must agree with eESGe. If you're not changing straps then the Grolsh rubber gasket(?) just does the job perfectly. I've also been really pleased with the Gibson leather strap that comes in the case nowadays (I think they can be bought for around $30?). In fact I need to go out and buy two bottles of Grolsh today... :D

Could have been disastrous, nice catch. I don't use a strap but am lucky enough to never have dropped any guitars. Throwing one down the hallway is another story...

A word of caution about the Grolsch washers / Bonalocks, etc... They cause the screw in the strap lock to unscrew. We have seen several go to the floor with the Grolsch washers. If you use them, be sure to periodically check your upper horn straplock screw...

Joe Bonamassa uses the Grolsch washers on his gazillion dollar Les Paul bursts. That's good enough for me.:)

The first strap I ever had was a blue leather strap. The adjustable part of it came off, and I replaced the part that fell off with part of a pair of blue underpants (true story!). I used it for 15 years, and it never once failed me. :D

I just got off the phone with a D'addario rep. Seemed like a good bloke. So he said to send him the pictures. I told him I had the strap within a year he seemed concerned, and was happy no damage to my guitar. He said if I didn't have my receipt no problem. Fired the pictures off a half hour ago.

That wide, 3" strap - without adjustments - are custom made for each of my guitars and it makes throwing them around your neck super easy. The Double neck is the only one I don't throw around...I think It would pull me off my feet if I did...
