I always kinda liked Gold Top Les Paul's and I have to say, by flat black 50's tribute (how ridiculous to call it a 50's tribute in flat black with a 498T/496R) is pretty dam ugly.
I been thinking - maybe - shooting the top a different color....Gold of course.
I'm not trying for a genuine 1950's look-a-like perfect hue, just something that may look better than the flat black that Gibson painted this with.
So, I took some Gold paint I had on hand - from an art project - and painted a sheet of notbook paper, then cut it out and laid it on the body.
Now my idea is for a satin finish, so if I was to clearcoat this, it would be a satin clear and not a gloss.
Thoughts????
